2 Contents Our Organisation, Social Mission and Values... 1 New initiatives... 2 New premises... 3 IAPT Key Performance Indicators... 4 Patient Opinion - Feedback about our services... 5 Accounts... 6 A word from our Managing Director Since our establishment in 2011 our reputation for quality has enabled us to extend the scope of our services and grow faster than we had anticipated in our business plans. In 2014 the pace of this development has increased. Two particularly exciting new projects are the development of a new Shared Point of Access for Psychological Therapies in Salford and a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with the University of Salford. We have now moved into new premises at the Greenwood Business Centre in Salford. This gives us the space we need to accommodate our expanding workforce and a great work environment. This will enable us to extend our activities by developing new mental health services, training and supervision, based on the best evidence and practice. I would like to thank all our staff for their considerable efforts and dedication over the past year. Thanks also to the people who use our services for their valued feedback and support. I would also like to extend a special thanks to our partners whom we could not work without and to our Non Executive Board Members who freely give their time and expertise to help us advance our social mission. We develop and deliver socially innovative mental health services at the leading edge of practice. The quality of our services has been commended by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and in the past 3 years we have been finalists in the National Positive Practice in Mental Health Awards and the National Patient Experience Awards Our Social Mission Our social mission is to build resilient communities; communities in which people with common mental health problems are accepted, supported and equipped with skills to deal with the challenges they face. Our Values At all times we endeavor to be: Professional: We are committed to providing evidence based talking therapies up to the highest standards of excellence. Accessible: We deliver services in easily accessible venues and adapt our approach to deal with individual needs. Inclusive: We work with people from all backgrounds and make a particular effort to reach out to under-represented groups. Responsive: We take pride in our ability to respond promptly and ensure that waiting times are kept to a minimum. Supportive: We offer people the support they may need to help them achieve their personal goals. 1

3 New Initiatives New Premises empowered Conversations As a result of the work we have doing in the field of dementia care we have received two grants: 60K funding from Health Education England to test and evaluate a communications skills training package for nursing home staff who are caring for people living with dementia. 110K funding from Innovate UK to support a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with the Institute of Dementia, at the University of Salford. Shared Point of Access We are currently piloting a new Shared Point of Access for psychological therapies in Salford. The early results indicate that this has streamlined the care pathway for people entering services and improved access to care. Our old office at the Angel Centre Public Health Commissioning Procurement Framework Our application to be a preferred provider of services under Salford City Council s new Public Health Commissioning Procurement Framework was accepted. Sponsorship Together with Health Education England we cosponsored two Masterclasses for Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners from across the North West Region - Interpersonal Therapy and Working with a Compassionate Mind.. Together with MIND in Salford we continued to support Mindfulness Classes to help people manage the stress and anxiety of living in our hectic world. The Greenwood Business Centre provides an excellent location for us to undertake our work. It offers the space we need to accommodate our expanding workforce and a great work environment. This will enable us to extend our activities by developing new mental health services in Salford, as well as training and consultation services in Greater Manchester and beyond. Business Development We received 56K funding from the Social Investment Business to support the development of our organisational infrastructure. We received 10K funding from the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills to support a programme of leadership and management training. Our Managing Director successfully completed the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Programme. Our new offices - Southwood House at the Greenwood Business Centre 2 3

4 IAPT Key Performance Indicators Figures from the Health and Social Care Information Centre indicate that Six Degrees is amongst the highest ranking performers in England in the key domains of the Department of Health s IAPT programme. Patient Opinion - Feedback about our Services Our services are held in high regard both within the City of Salford and beyond. Here is a selection of some of the feedback we have received in the past year via Patient Opinion an independent website about people s experience of UK health services. I ve met my practitioner- a beautiful fairy! She wiped my fears, gave me hope and showed me I can do well and I can find the right way- way to be happy Impressed with confidentiality I was impressed with the confidentiality and punctuality. No judgement or opinions, just listened to I had three meetings at my GP s with a lady from the angel centre. She listened to me and that was fantastic. No judgement or opinions, just listened. In a way, I solved my own information overload just by allowing someone to tell me I wasn t doing anything wrong. She let me grieve, cry, be angry and then helped me to cope with how I felt. I can now hopefully carry on with the help she gave but I also know that if I need she will see me again. 4 5
