1 GOLD BANK ACCOUNT
2 Gold Bank Account Helping you to simplify International Banking At Santander Private Banking, we are committed to providing a consistently high level of service. We focus on building a close and long term relationship, because we believe that your trust is our most valuable asset. As part of our commitment to service we aim to deliver products to help you achieve your banking and savings needs. Our flagship Gold Bank Account allows you to access your funds as you move around the world, all from the single and secure location of Jersey. If you live abroad you may well have a bank account in your home country to manage your financial commitments there, and a bank account in the country where you live to look after your day-to-day expenses. Banking with Santander Private Banking in Jersey provides a convenient link between these different banking relationships, with a secure, central home for your money and easy international access to your finances. When you open a Gold Bank Account with Santander Private Banking in Jersey you can keep your finances in one place wherever you live, and get easy access to your money with our sterling, euro and US dollar accounts. Gold Bank Account Features Your Gold Bank Account offers a broad range of benefits, including: n A Gold Visa deferred-debit card, which gives you direct access to your Gold Bank Account funds in sterling, euros or US dollars. n We record each Gold Visa deferred-debit card transaction against your account, helping you to keep track of your spending through the month. n Your Gold Visa deferred-debit card transactions, (except cash withdrawals), are debited from your Gold Bank Account on the last day of the calendar month for interest purposes, so you can continue to earn interest on money you ve already spent for up to thirty days. n You can check balances, review transactions, make payments or transfers and amend standing orders via our Internet Banking Service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from almost anywhere in the world. It s a convenient way to access your account and manage your banking. n Use of our Telephone Banking Service to manage your account, from 8.00am to 8.00pm UK time, Monday to Friday. n Our Foreign Exchange Service allows you to move sterling, euros or US dollars between your accounts through our Internet Banking or Telephone Banking Services. You can also receive and make payments in many other major currencies with our competitive, commission-free rates. 3
3 How your Visa deferred-debit card works Your Visa deferred-debit card is linked to your Gold Bank Account and transactions are recorded individually against your account, allowing you to keep track of your spending throughout the month. Direct access to your money Visa is accepted at millions of retail outlets worldwide and 1.6 million ATMs in more than 200 countries and territories, so you can access your Gold Bank Account funds directly, anywhere, and at any time. With a Visa deferred-debit card you can earn interest on money you have already spent for up to 30 days; as your Visa card transactions, except cash withdrawals, are only debited on the last day of the month for interest purposes. Cash withdrawals will be debited immediately. There is no charge for your card while you maintain a minimum monthly balance of 5,000, 7,500 or $7,500. However, should the average monthly balance of your account drop below the minimum amount, it will incur a monthly maintenance charge. You cannot stop a Visa transaction as you might do a cheque, but in certain circumstances we may be able to charge back to the retailer via their bank. Please refer to the General Terms and Conditions for the Gold Bank Account. There are no charges for cash withdrawals in the same currency as your account. The maximum cash limit per withdrawal is 500, 750 or $1,000. When you withdraw cash or make a purchase in a different currency to that of your card, we will charge a foreign exchange commission, which will not exceed 3%. Card usage levy Some retailers or service providers may levy a surcharge if you use your Visa deferred-debit card to make payments for their goods or services. This is because, within the Visa transaction system, deferred-debit cards are treated as credit cards. Therefore, if a retailer or service provider advises you that there is a charge for their service, then a surcharge may be levied, this surcharge will apply to your transaction and will be debited from your account as part of your transaction. Please also note that if retailers or service providers inform you that they do not accept credit cards then this means that they will not accept your deferred-debit card. 5
4 Peace of mind If your card is lost or stolen while travelling you can call our free, multilingual Global Card Assistance Service for immediate card cancellation. If your card is lost or stolen at any time, normally you will not be liable for any fraudulent transactions, as long as you tell us as soon as you become aware that your card is missing and you have satisfied certain security requirements. An emergency replacement card can be delivered within 24 hours by calling Visa and you can request an emergency cash advance of up to 500 from the nearest bank displaying the Visa logo.
