1 DOME PhD Course: Classic Organization Theory Faculty and Reading List Faculty George P. Huber is the Prothro Regents Chair in Business Administration Emeritus at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Huber is a Fellow of the Academy of Management and of the Decision Sciences Institute and is a charter member of the Academy of Management Journals Hall of Fame. His article, The Nature and Design of Post-Industrial Organizations, was awarded First Prize in an International Prize Competition sponsored by The Institute of Management Sciences in His co-authored article, Fit, Equifinality, and Organizational Effectiveness was selected as the Best Article of the Year in the Academy of Management Journal for In 1993, his co-edited book, Organizational Change and Redesign: Ideas and Insights for Improving Performance, was published by Oxford University Press, and in 1995 his co-edited book, Longitudinal Field Research Methods: Studying Processes of Organizational Change, was published by Sage Publications. Sage Publications published his most recent book, The Necessary Nature of Future Firms: Attributes of Survivors in a Changing World, in Dr. Huber s Web of Science citations rank him in the top 0.1% of management researchers in terms of impact on the field. Dr. Huber has held full time positions with the Emerson Electric Manufacturing Company, the Procter and Gamble Manufacturing Company, the U.S. Department of Labor, and Execucom Systems Corporation, and has served as a consultant to many corporations and public agencies. Professor Huber has held full time faculty appointments at the Universities of Wisconsin, California, and Texas, and he has served as Associate Dean for Research in the Graduate Schools of Business at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Texas. Charles C. Snow is the Mellon Foundation Professor of Business Administration and Chair of the Department of Management and Organization at Penn State s Smeal College of Business where he has been on the faculty since He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on the strategic management of innovation and entrepreneurship, organization design, and new organizational forms. Professor Snow is on the editorial board of the Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of World Business, and several other academic journals. He has published widely in academic and practitioner journals on various management topics. He has also co-authored or edited nine books on organizations and management, including the classic Organizational Strategy, Structure, and Process (McGraw-Hill, 1978) and Collaborative Entrepreneurship: How Communities of Networked Firms Use Continuous Innovation to Create Economic Wealth (Stanford University Press, 2005). He has been a visiting professor at The Amos Tuck School (Dartmouth College), Norwegian School of Management, and the University of Oregon. During , he will be a Visiting Research Scholar at the University of Melbourne, and during , he is a Visiting Research Scholar at Aarhus School of Business, Aarhus University. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Management. Professor Snow has extensive experience in executive education programs. He has taught in numerous university-based programs, including those at Penn State, Berkeley, North Carolina, Michigan, Carnegie Mellon, and Texas Christian University. He has taught the core 1

2 strategy course to Executive MBAs at Penn State and at business schools in Australia, New Zealand, France, Turkey, and Norway, and he has spoken on management topics to a variety of executive audiences in Europe, Asia, and South America. John Parm Ulhøi is Professor of Organization and Management Theory at Business and Social Sciences, Aarhus University, and Head of the Doctoral programme in Organization and Management Education (DOME). He also serves as Centre Director for the Centre for Organizational Renewal and Evolution (CORE). He is the author, co-author, editor and co-editor of various books and journal articles. His most recent book is Handbook of qualitative research methods in entrepreneurship, Edward Elgar, 2007 (with H. Neergaard). His research has been published in journals such as for example Entrepreneurship, Theory and Practice; European Journal of Operational Research; Industrial Management & Data Systems; International Journal of Manpower; International Journal of Technology Management; Journal of Business Venturing; Journal of Engineering and Technology; Journal of Organizational Behaviour; Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development; Management Decision; Managerial & Decision Economics; Scandinavian Journal of Management; Strategic Change; Technovation; Technology Analysis and Strategic Management. In 1996 he received The ANBAR 1996 Citation of Excellence Award. Jørn Flohr Nielsen is Professor of Organization and Management at Business and Social Sciences, Aarhus University, Denmark. His research interests include organizational change, strategic and organizational impact of emerging information technologies, and service management. He has published in journals such as Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, Scandinavian Journal of Management, European Management Journal, and The International Journal of Service Industry Management.
