Now more than 4 million applicants per year, spread all over Brazilian territory. nafon- wide test, applied in around 15,000 test centers distributed in more than 1,600 cifes ENEM score is used in selecfon process for PROUNI grants, as well as for placements in public higher educafon insftufons through the Unified SelecFon System a bridge over the gap between higher educafon and middle school

14 SISU- Unified Admissions System SelecFon for public insftufons With the scores obtained in ENEM (found at INEP s electronic database) students apply for the courses they choose ApplicaFons remain open for five days. During this period, the minimum scores required for admission are daily updated, based on the comparison of the scores of all applicants unfl that moment. Applicants know if they have chances to be admired even before the official results are released, so if they might not have chances, they can choose another course which helps to reduce occasional frustrafons. This innovafve model has been highly acclaimed by the insftufons that adopt it
