4 T1 Basic facts The Internet = an international computer network connecting other networks and computers from companies, universities, etc. *(OALD) World Wide Web = a system for finding information on the Internet, in which documents are connected to other documents using hypertext links *(OALD) HTML = Hypertext Mark-up Language (a system used to mark text for World Wide Web pages in order to obtain colours, style, pictures, etc.) *(OALD)
5 T1-Accessibility 1969 the Internet was created in the USA as a military and scientific network 1989 the World Wide Web was created at CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research) in Switzerland it helped scientists to share information nowadays - available to anyone with the Internet access from the Internet Service Providers forms of the Internet access: Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity), satellite, cell phone, dial-up, landline broadband (over cables)
