7 PQS Performance Specifications & Verification Protocols Verification in 2 ways for E003 prequalification 1. Independent type-testing: Sample inspection and testing is carried out in a PQS accredited test laboratory. 2. Full Quality Assurance: Site inspection by an independent inspector is carried out against a pre-defined checklist. Used for complex programme-critical products involving site-specific design and on-site installation work.

Removable waterpacks above ice-bank not permitted if not tested as WP freezer 3. Walls bulging due to waterpacks or ice-bank freezing 4. PV with no QA 5. Unclear or incomplete installation guidelines 6. Incomplete kit for installation 1. Adequate cabling, connections and protective sleeves 2. Lightning protection 3. Theft protection 7. Material: corrosion, hinges solidity

20 Process for successful solar tenders 1. Identify appropriate sites * (country desk study) No prolonged cloud (> 2 week continuous) No shading between 9AM and 3PM Electricity less than 4-8 hours / day Solar technical service is, or can be, available 2. System design (solar technician site visit) Review climate data for temperature, solar radiation and to determine autonomy needed Site visit to determine panel support structure, fridge location, cable routing, etc. 3. Plan sent to Copenhagen (country) System design docs from technician Installation and maintenance plan * Note: sites identified by GPS coordinates
21 Process for successful solar tenders 4. Bidding and selection (UNICEF) Review information from countries. Send out request for bids to Qualified Suppliers. Technical review of bids to ensure appropriate specifications proposed.
