2 The power of the sun Protection from the sun while utilising its power Schenker Storen has been exploring ways of utilising the sun s energy for over 130 years. At the start of the company s history our sun shading systems consisted primarily of wood or textile, but today we offer ingenious, technically sophisticated sun protection systems to satisfy a wide range of customer requirements: daylight deflection, comfort control, safety and more. Schenker Storen continues to think ahead and seeks to actively use the sun's energy. Today all of our blinds are available with a solar drive. And our sun and weather protection products in which glass is used can be flexibly equipped with photovoltaic glass. We not only offer protection against the sun, we also actively use its power. 2

3 The business activities of Schenker Storen No. 1 on the Swiss market for sun and weather protection are sustainable in an economical, ecological, social and technical sense. The company is paving the way to future success and never ceases to scrutinise proven technologies with the aim of further improving them. Solar drives All products from Schenker Storen can be powered by solar energy. There are five solar sets to choose from: two with venetian blind motors and three with tubular motors. Photovoltaics With the development of sun and weather protection products with glass, (e.g. terrace roof TD) Schenker Storen promptly launched the project «Integration of photovoltaics in solar and weather protection». Large surfaces that are largely oriented towards the sun are ideal for installing photovoltaic glass. This generates the solar electricity needed for the shading system and surplus energy can be used for the rest of the property. Furthermore, the shape and colour of photovoltaic glass from Schenker Storen can also be customised. Photovoltaic glass is not only functional, it also impresses with flexible technical aesthetics. 3

4 Use the power of the sun Solar drives All blind products from Schenker Storen can be powered by solar energy the new solar-powered drives from Schenker Storen make this possible! Whether they are to be installed in a new building, part of a comprehensive renovation programme or a retrofitted comfort upgrade: with solar blinds no additional electrical installations are necessary. Each blind can be operated independently. You save both energy and building costs since there is no need to slit open walls, lay wires or install switches. Since solar blinds operate with low-voltage drives, no electrician is needed to install the solar panels. 4

For the blind to also work smoothly at night, excess power is stored in a highly efficient lithium-ion battery, which is well protected in the blind casing and provides the required electricity when the sun is not shining. Economical and ecological Aside from the financial advantages, solar blinds also have ecological benefits: You are investing in a sustainable technology that produces solar electricity bioelectricity without CO 2 emissions. Ecology has long been an important issue for Schenker Storen. It was the first company in the sun and weather protection market to be certified accor- ding to the requirements of ISO Environ mental Management. Black Pearl radio controller Solar blinds can be controlled simply and intuitively using the sleek Black or White Pearl hand-held radio transmitter. You can use it to operate any number of blind systems. It goes without saying that other Schenker Storen solar blinds can be added to form a fully automatic system with multiple sensors. 5

6 Integration of photovoltaics In sun and weather protection In cooperation with Odersun, Schenker Storen works with a thin-film photovoltaic solution on a copper basis. The solution is highly effective, extremely flexible and distinguished by an elegant appearance. The CISCuT thin-film technology used (copper indium disulphide on a copper strip) also generates electricity with weak solar radiation and can be manufactured with substantially lower energy consumption than other photovoltaic glass. That is what we call optimum use of the sun s energy. 6

Application possibilities Elegant photovoltaic glass can be used on facades or roofs. It is comprised of glass and film and can be flexibly adapted to the customer s requirements: in shape, module design and colour, matt or semi-transparent. Construction highlights CISCuT technology (copper indium disulphide on copper strip) offers the highest level of efficiency of all thinfilm technologies and uses the broadest light spectrum. This delivers high yields even with diffused light irradiation or unfavourable locational conditions. The innovative cell shading concept provides excellent tolerances, regardless of the course of possible shading. What makes them unique? Excellent energy yield even in weak or diffused light and shade. Various glass colours, sizes and geometries possible. Single-pane safety glass SPSG or laminated safety glass LSG.
