3 NATIONAL DIALOGUE BEGAN AACN Doctoral Conference presentation, 2001 Nationally we are in the early stages of a conversation about clinical doctorates Columbia University invitational conferences NONPF Practice Doctorate Task Force, THE DNP JOURNEY 2002: AACN Board of Directors charged a task force to examine the current state of clinical or practice doctoral programs : Task Force conducts research and surveys; hosts five regional meetings and symposium with NONPF to collect feedback from communities of interest THE DNP JOURNEY 2004: AACN members vote to adopt Position Statement supporting the DNP as entry into practice for APRNs AACN members vote to approve 2015 as the target date for the transition of master s level APRN programs to the practice doctorate 3
