The Centers house Accenture and SAP specialists working side by side, and bring together valuable assets from both organizations. Together, we are building the next generation of advanced analytics, HANA, mobility and cloud solutions integrated within SAP core technologies. 1

The Accenture Innovation Centers for SAP are an integrated part of our Innovation Network, working in close collaboration with the Accenture Technology Labs, Global Delivery Network, Centers of Excellence and Industry Solution Centers. The Centers are unique resources that allow Accenture to demonstrate the art of the possible to its clients. Day in the Life Scenarios An integral part of the Accenture Innovation Centers for SAP are Accenture s Day in the Life scenarios, during which we show clients how cloud, mobility, analytics, HANA and SAP solutions are used in the execution of industry-specific business processes. For example, Accenture demonstrates how business analytics can transform planning, marketing, and promotions capabilities in a consumer goods company. Our professionals also can illustrate how mobility solutions can improve operations in a utilities business. Further details on some of our Day in the Life scenarios: Consumer Goods Day in the Life Scenario The consumer goods scenario focuses on the launch of a new breakfast cereal. The scenario begins in the executive boardroom with initial launch planning and an agreement to invest $30 million in marketing and trade promotions. The scenario then advances to marketing and trade promotion planning, during which executives agree upon events and tactics and set them up in the Trade Promotion Management Tool. The next phase of the demonstration focuses on the retail sector, and in particular on the execution effectiveness of new product and in-store promotion. This is followed by a sales performance review and a crowd sourcing deployment to gather data on product and promotion availability. Ten days after the launch, the company reviews new product sales and finds them higher than expected, so the sales team agrees upon new forecasts with manufacturing. Chemicals Day in the Life Scenario In the chemicals scenario, executives gather to review company performance. The corporate performance cockpit highlights two areas of concern: profitability and health & safety. In terms of health & safety, a specific plant with a high rate of incidents is highlighted. At the close of the meeting, an alert comes in about a fire incident at this plant. The plant manager quickly tracks worker locations and activity, monitoring toxic exposure and oxygen levels using the Life Safety System detection monitor. In order to look further into profitability issues, the sales manager performs an analysis by market segment and drills into low-profitability areas within commodities, and into high-profitability products within specialties. As a result of the sales, cost, and what-if analyses and price adjustment simulations, the company decides to divest certain low-margin commodity products and focus on growing the specialty business unit. At the weekly sales & operations planning meeting the team determines whether manufacturing capacity can meet the revised sales forecast. At the scenario s conclusion, the plant manager monitors a real-time production dashboard and performs high-volume analysis using data from the manufacturing execution system to understand production plan variations. Mining Day in the Life Scenario The mining scenario focuses on a Fleet Control Centre, where a haul truck is being investigated due to a number of warning and error alerts. The controller advises the operator to bring the truck to the fleet workshop for further investigation. A work order is created from SAP and sent to a nearby technician identified with the right skills via a tracking monitor attached to his helmet. The technician receives the work order on his mobile device and investigates the alert. The technician discovers the truck s cooling fan is about to fail and some hydraulic hoses have worn and need to be replaced. He records the investigation findings and orders the appropriate parts by scanning RFID tags. When the offsite warehouse receives the order for the replacement parts, a worker easily locates the components via RFID tags and the parts are then automatically dispatched for delivery to the workshop. When the parts arrive at the fleet workshop, they are automatically scanned as confirmation of receipt. The technician performs the component replacement and the defective fan is tagged for return to the warehouse. 3

The executives make their way into the smart grid control center, where they identify which assets are experiencing faults and examine the smart grid outage monitor. The dispatcher view is shown and a work order is dispatched to the nearest technician. The executives then proceed to the busy call center where, to reduce call traffic, the manager adds an automated message option with a service restoration time estimate. With the outage expected to end shortly, the technician fixing the faulted equipment is seen via video conference updating his work order on his mobile device. High Tech Day in the Life Scenario As this scenario begins, executives are reviewing new product statistics on a dashboard, which shows a social media alert communicating customer issues with the company s new media player. The executives conduct analysis that shows failures are limited to North America, and that reveals a correlation between serial numbers of failed units and a key chip coming from a specific supplier. Operations then stops shipments and recalls suspect products from the channel. The product team reallocates existing non-faulty stock to minimize the financial impact of shortages, and works with suppliers to make up the expected shortfall. In order to maintain sales levels, the company introduces a new content bundle for customers willing to order and accept delayed receipt of the media player. To conclude, the team compares actual results to the original plan, including costs and overall margins.
