1 has developed a program to meet the requirements for the Autism Spectrum Disorders Endorsement. It is designed to demonstrate that candidates have completed a competency-based sequence of courses totaling 12 credit hours. The program consists of four courses grounded in the cognitive, emotional and social development. This program provides teachers with the knowledge and skills in working with autistic students. Graduate and Professional Studies Autistic Spectrum Disorders Endorsement Program *completion of this program does not result in degree In 2012, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention s Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network reported that approximately one in 88 children in the United States have an Autism Spectrum Disorder. This represents an increase in the prevalence of autism spectrum disorders. In the 1980 s autism prevalence was reported as one in 10,000. In the 1990 s, prevalence was one in 2500 and, later, one in ASDs are almost five times more common among boys (one in 54) than among girls (one in 252), and they are reported in all racial, ethnic and socioeconomic groups. 2 Graduate and Professional Studies M.Ed. in Instructional Technology The purpose of the Graduate Technology Programs is to prepare students with the tools and qualifications to be leaders in the technology field within any professional setting. The coursework includes hands-on application of research and theory for the improvement of teaching and learning. Students have an option to enter a program with or without the Pennsylvania Instructional Technology Specialist certification. All programs include the Concentration in Online Teaching. The types of online courses with the highest enrollments in school districts are credit recovery and dual-credit. 74 percent of school districts with distance education programs planned to expand online offerings over the next 3 years. The most common location for students accessing their online courses is their school, with 92 percent of students accessing courses (The International Association for K-12 Online Learning)

4 Graduate and Professional Studies Master of Education The 30 credit M.Ed. with options in concentrations in Autism Spectrum Disorders, Online Teaching, or Supervision and Curriculum Leadership is designed for the teacher who wants to gain new insight, skills and information that will help them become better teachers and leaders in their schools. Students will use current research from practitioners in the field of education. The National Association of Colleges and Employers found that in 2012, high school history teachers earned Principal Certification Program 24 credits -with M.Ed. in Educational Leadership options 36 credits Autism Spectrum Disorders Endorsement - 12 credits -with M.Ed. option - 30 credits Special Education Certification Program 30 credits -with M.Ed. option 36 credits -with or without Specialist Certification (Concentration in Online Teaching included) a starting salary of $47,000 a year with a master s degree. By comparison, high school teachers with only a bachelor s degree made anywhere from $4,300 to $9,200 less a year than those with a master s, depending on subject area. Apply Today!

Pedagogical coursework seems to contribute to teacher effectiveness at all grade levels, particularly when coupled with content knowledge. The importance of content coursework is most pronounced at the high school level. While the studies on the field experience component of teacher education are not designed to reveal causal relationships, they suggest positive effects in terms of opportunity to learn the profession and reduced anxiety among new teachers.

Our program uses state and national leadership standards to prepare future educational leaders with the practical skills and knowledge and expertise necessary to lead and administer a school community.
