3 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL Supports San Antonio s targeted industries consisting of aerospace, health care & bioscience, manufacturing, hospitality and tourism, information technology & cybersecurity, military and real estate & construction. The Council also organizes the annual Celebrate America s Military (CAM) and SA to DC trip. AEROSPACE COMMITTEE Provides a forum for educating the community on issues of importance to the aerospace and aviation industry. This committee influences public policy at the local, state and federal level to encourage continued industry growth and job creation. CELEBRATE AMERICA S MILITARY (CAM) COMMITTEE Coordinates the annual salute to the military, which occurs in November and involves more than two dozen events. CAM is recognized as the nation s longest and largest community-wide celebration of its kind, involving 200,000 people over a two-week period. CYBERSECURITY COMMITTEE Fosters growth and development of the local cybersecurity industry, supports and advocates for legislative issues impacting the industry. Identifies and creates IT workforce and recruitment initiatives to meet future industry needs through collaboration with academic institutions, current businesses and the military. Engages with local military missions and commercial businesses to grow the cybersecurity industry and assets in San Antonio. SUBCOMMITTEE: CYBERSECURITY BUSINESS BOOTCAMP The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce has organized a quarterly bootcamp that equips entrepreneurial men and women who are leaving government service with the skills and knowledge to consider creating a new cyber business right here in our community. This bootcamp is open to all transitioning military and government
4 civilian employees with previous cybersecurity/information assurance expertise. The program exposes cybersecurity talent to key business concepts. The bootcamp is conducted by professionals who have built successful businesses in cybersecurity after leaving military service. This mentored program is designed to open the door for new commercial cybersecurity companies in our community to complement the federal and private sector assets in San Antonio. HEALTH CARE AND BIOSCIENCE COMMITTEE Educates the community on the importance and impact of the local health care & bioscience industry and serves as the key resource to Chamber members on health care issues. This committee advocates for critical issues affecting these industries and supports programs designed to grow and sustain them. MILITARY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE Promotes San Antonio by engaging the greater San Antonio community, and especially its business community to celebrate, support, maintain and grow the military presence in San Antonio. Through long-standing programs, such as the Commander s Liaison program, the Senior Enlisted Advisor Council and the Woman to Woman, Leader to Leader Committee, this group interacts with all levels of the military to ensure support for their mission critical activities, families and transition efforts. The committee also leads the employment transition team for the Military & Veteran Community Council, a collaborative organization of public and private organizations focused on supporting our active duty military, veterans and families in San Antonio. SUBCOMMITTEE: SENIOR ENLISTED ADVISOR COUNCIL The Senior Enlisted Advisor Council of Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) provides a forum to facilitate communication among the senior NCOs from all branches of the military in the San Antonio area. It is also a mechanism for the military to communicate any needs/issues to the business community, allows the business community to communicate opportunities and resources available to the military, and raises any issues or concerns as well.
5 SUBCOMMITTEE: WOMAN TO WOMAN, LEADER TO LEADER This committee provides a platform to connect active duty and transitioning female military leaders with senior female business executives in the San Antonio community. The committee meets every other month and encourages a collaborative sharing of culture and resources to provide transition tools and connections for our female military officers. SUBCOMMITTEE: MILITARY COMMANDERS LIAISON PROGRAM This program strengthens ties between the San Antonio Chamber and the military, provides a personal contact within the business community for commanders during their assignment in San Antonio, and enhances the personal connections that commanders have to the San Antonio area. By pairing a civilian business leader with a senior military officer when they arrive in San Antonio, the members of the program help ensure that officer, their family, and their command has a direct link to the business community to help strengthen the relationship San Antonio has with its military partners.
