12 European Rollout Upgrade Germany, Spain, Hungary 9 months July / August holiday period in Europe Plan project schedules around this core timeframe No testing events (try for core build / development during this) Secondary ledgers due to statutory charts Spain/Hungary biggest impact, Germany not as bad but growing Currency issues / valuation Hungary (EUR vs HUF) AR Factoring Spain Buggy lots of Oracle Support tickets (data corruption) Tax in upgrade is not 100% clean; takes time to troubleshoot Some language barriers depending on location but not to level of Asia-Pacific Banking integration complexities

13 South American Rollout Re-implement Brazil (Phase 1), Argentina, Chile, Columbia.(Phase 2) Costing is an adventure in each country. You will likely wind up running Periodic Average Costing which is a black art. Brazil has many specific requirements, and most of these are covered by Oracle Brazil. You will likely use Mastersaf or Synchro for NFE (Nota Fiscal Electronica) and Tax calculation. There are tables within the database specifically to interface with these. You can not operate without the NFE process. There is no workaround. Integrated Receiving is another major customization specific to Brazil

15 R12 Net-New Considerations Leverage UPK or other tool for documentation Avoid customizations build this structure and approach into your project upfront and ensure it is well known Did have some for localizations that required customizations Otherwise, standardized on existing customizations or vanilla Get into an instance early to start reviewing process flows and screens (even if using a VISION instance) Minimum of 3 instances / 4 if possible PROD, DEV, TEST, (PATCH) Investigate Localizations early Your DBA team could be on the critical path.

16 R12 Upgrade Considerations Printing will change move toward PASTA printing Printers must accommodate Post-script printing Older printers may have issues with memory (larger files/images) Start early on: Banking interfaces / checks remediation Cash management interfaces / reports - highly affected w/ R12 Tax reporting - significantly impacted with E-Business Tax / VAT Moving to BI Publisher output formatting from 3 rd party (Optio) Base SLA configurations will not give you same detail in GL Without specific configurations to fit your subledger needs Even if not using SLA to drive accounting rules

17 R12 Upgrade Considerations Get into R12 instance early (change management) Leveraged R12 instances from Asia-Pac for R12 delta training Significant screen differences customers, suppliers, banks

18 Resourcing You need someone who knows the local legal requirements and can mix it up with the location personnel. A consultant or 2 on the ground is nice but watch out for Stockholm Syndrome Your core team has to be familiar with how your company operates and why. Otherwise you will not have enough credibility to drive needed changes. Do not underestimate the DBA work load. Overseas travel takes its toll. We saw some burnout. Have an emergency travel service.

Tax engine it is powerful but complicated Language / Communication don t under estimate Banking interfaces and communication takes time In Brazil NFE process is critical start early. DBAs will need time to master the upgrade. Get into the system early test, play, test, play
