Premium Anti-Spam End User s Guide / Quarantine Report Page 2 of 10 Quarantine Report The Quarantine Report allows the Premium Anti Spam user to review all filtered messages for a given time. When scanning your Quarantine Report you should be looking for false positives, such as newsletters that you subscribe to, etc., which should be added to your ALLOW list via the Quarantine Report. Figure 1 1
Premium Anti-Spam End User s Guide / Quarantine Report Page 3 of 10 Please note the very top of the Quarantine report. It explains the actions which you can undertake from the Quarantine itself. To view quarantine items for a particular day, click on the "View quarantined items for this day" link To move an to your Inbox, click the "Release" link To move an to your Inbox and add the sender to your Allowed Senders list, click the "Always Allow" link To delete the and add the sender to your Denied Senders list, click the "Deny" link (not shown in this example)** To delete all of the s in your quarantine, click the "Delete All" link at the bottom of the Spam Quarantine Report To view all quarantine items, click the "View all quarantined messages" link Preview an by clicking on the Subject link. NOTE: You can also login to the Premium Anti Spam Portal by clicking on the click here link at the bottom of the Quarantine Summary. *** DO NOT add spam already caught by the Premium Anti Spam Spam Report to your DENY list. Premium Anti Spam has already done its job in this instance so there is no need to clutter your Deny list with s that the service is already filtering. You will want to ADD to your DENY list those s that are NOT caught by the Premium Anti Spam service and are still being delivered to your mailbox but you want to block them from delivery.
Premium Anti-Spam End User s Guide / Defender Portal Page 4 of 10 Premium Anti Spam Portal You can login to the Premium Anti Spam Portal at (or by clicking the link at the very bottom of the Quarantine Report). If you do not know your password select click here under the Login button & a password will be ed to you. NOTE: Users are automatically created via SMTP Discovery after 10 VALID s flow to a mailbox within a 24 hour period. Figure 1 2 Passwords must be at least eight (8) characters long and contain both alpha and numeric and/or symbol characters. If Users have forgotten their passwords, or failed to obtain their password, enter your address in the Sign In window and click the Forgot your password or need to create a password? link. o A temporary password will be ed, to the address entered in the Sign In window above, which will allow you to enter the portal and set your password according to your own specifications.
Premium Anti-Spam End User s Guide / Defender Portal Page 5 of 10 Once logged into the portal, the following screen will appear showing the Quarantine tab as the default and listing any quarantined for the current date for the User s primary address entered for login. Figure 1 3 Any messages quarantined for the current day will be listed. You can view the s quarantined from past dates using the pull down menu in the upper left corner. Adding Senders to your Allow or Deny lists: 1. Click the Tab at the top of Figure 1 3; the Allow/Deny Sender list for xxx@xxxxx.com window is displayed to which allows you to define white lists (Allow) and black list (Deny) for the current User.
Premium Anti-Spam End User s Guide / Defender Portal Page 6 of 10 Figure Add the sending address to the Add Entry box in the desired pane. You can use wild cards to add entire domains (ie to allow all s from hotmail, add *@hotmail.com to the Allow list). You can upload.xls or.csv (Excel) files to either the Allow or Deny lists simply click Browse, locate the file on the PC then click Upload File. Alternatively, clicking on Download List will enable downloading the list to an.xls file. NOTE: Typically, you should only add addresses to the ALLOW LIST of those valid senders who are getting caught by the SPAM Report. It is not necessary to add generic addresses to this list (those s you receive without any problems).. only add those s being incorrectly caught by the SPAM Report.
Premium Anti-Spam End User s Guide / Defender Portal Page 7 of 10 Change Preferences: 1. Click the Tab at the top of Figure 1 3 : the Preferences for xxx@xxxxx.com window is displayed to which allows you to edit the general Spam & Virus filtering settings for the current User: From this screen the user can perform the following: Change the delivery options of their quarantine report Turn off/on spam filtering. Figure 1 5 By removing the check from Use default actions change the actions taken for Medium & High SPAM threats 2. Click the [Save] button, upper right, once the desired changes are complete.
Premium Anti-Spam End User s Guide / Defender Portal Page 8 of 10 Change Password: 1. To change the password, click the [Change] button next to the Password field at the top of the General Setting section of the Preferences page (Figure 1 5 above). The Password and Confirm Password input fields are displayed to allow data entry so that you can change the password used to access this MX Logic portal for this User. Figure 1 6 Enter identical passwords in both the Password and Confirm Password fields and then click the [Save] button in order to change the User s password. If any errors are made in entering the new password, and confirmation, a warning dialog window will be displayed to indicate the nature of the error: o Passwords need to contain at least eight (8) characters with both alpha and numeric and/or symbol characters as part of the password.
Premium Anti-Spam End User s Guide / Reporting SPAM Page 9 of 10 Reporting SPAM Although Apptix s Premium Anti Spam is 98%+ effective in filtering SPAM, certain SPAM s will pass thru the filters. On these occasions, follow the steps outlined below. 1. Contact Apptix client support. You will need a copy Internet headers as they will need to be reviewed by a technician to ensure the /spam flowed through Premium Anti Spam. To obtain the headers, in Outlook right click on the offending Options (or Message Options) & the Message Options box will appear (See Figure 1 7 below). Figure 1 7
Premium Anti-Spam End User s Guide / Reporting SPAM Page 10 of Copy & paste the entire contents of the Internet headers box & send them by to clientsupport@hostaccount.com. 3. If Apptix client support determines that the SPAM did not flow through Premium Anti Spam s servers, options will be discussed. Should it be determined that the SPAM did make it through the Premium Anti Spam filters, it will be necessary to forward a copy of the SPAM to spam@mxlogic.com along with any attachments and the Internet headers. Threat Management personnel will analyze the to refine filtering options & apply the updates necessary to support filtering these s properly. NOTE: You may NOT expect a response to any SPAM forwarded to MXLOGIC. 4. Alternatively, you can add the sending address and or domain of the spammer to your Deny list as referenced above.
