1 2D Animation with Flash Program: Year 9 Digital Media In this course students learn the concepts, s, and techniques they ll need to create their own animations. Students learn how to build vector graphics and create symbols reusable artwork at the heart of animations. The course also explains the different types of symbols and tweens in Flash, and how to use them to build and animate The lessons are about skill-building in using Adobe Flash CSS and allow students to apply their knowledge. Overview Target learner: This course has been designed for year 9 group students. Version/Length: Length: 8 lessons (could be spreads across more) Outcomes: Equipment and Software: Tutorial ideas: Prerequisites See grid Access to PC (students can work in pair on a workstation). Adobe Flash CSS, Microsoft Office Apps to record progress. Learners may be familiar with some basic image manipulation s. Students should be able to: Manage folders and files Use Word to edit and save files o Editing the header of a Word document Take screen prints and crop them. Level 3 in reading and writing skills. Parameters of the Learning Program Reviewing the learning program Teachers review the Learning Program after each session. resources are reviewed, improved and customised to suit learners needs. Learner achievements are analysed to improve the delivery of the learning program and develop learning strategies. ICT teachers continually monitor, review and improve/adjust the materials as required. Assessment Learners are assessed based on the completion of tutorials, exercises and project file. Students update their project at the end of every lesson that shows evidence of their work using screenshots of their work. Students explain the skills they have learned and what they could improve in their learning and skills. 2 Elements and Performance Criteria ELEMENT Identify animation requirements Generate and assess ideas Plan approach Produce animations Finalise animations PERFORMANCE CRITERIA 1. Clarify 2D animation requirements, including design specifications and storyboard in consultation with relevant personnel 2. Clarify target users/audience and requirements with regard to output formats and delivery platforms 3. Review animations, artworks and other creative sources that may inspire design ideas 4. Obtain other relevant information that may influence design ideas 5. Generate a range of animation ideas that are technically feasible, respond to specifications and provide creative solutions to all design issues 6. Present animation ideas to relevant personnel using appropriate design techniques 7. Assess the range of industry-current 2D animation software available to determine compatibility with design specifications 8. In consultation with relevant personnel, select the most appropriate 2D animation software for a given purpose 9. Evaluate initial design ideas and specifications against findings and discuss with relevant personnel to select final design concept 10. Apply basic screen principles, visual design principles, communication principles, animation techniques and animation principles to produce animated sequences 11. Source and import, or generate sufficient quantity of key drawings to establish required actions 12. Combine animated objects to produce single sequences according to creative requirements and specifications 13. Integrate audio assets where necessary 14. Save and store animations using appropriate output file formats and standard naming conventions 15. Review animations to assess creative solutions to design specifications, appropriateness to users/audience and technical feasibility 16. Discuss and confirm with relevant personnel additional requirements or modifications to overall designs or animations and undertake necessary amendments
