3 Ca Foscari University of Venice Established on August 6 th 1868 as a Royal Business College, Ca Foscari University of Venice was the first educational institution in Italy to offer higher education in business and economics. 12 Joint Master's Degree in Sustainable Development Introduction The 2-year Master's Programme (Italian Laurea Magistrale) in Sustainable Development is aimed at highly qualified and motivated students interested in the issue of sustainable development and in the international dimension of sustainability issues. The programme offers an interdisciplinary approach, combining the specialisation in teaching and research of 6 partner universities: Karl Franzens University of Graz - Austria Ca' Foscari University of Venice - Italy Leipzig University - Germany Utrecht University - The Netherlands Basel University - Switzerland Hiroshima University Japan Duration: 2 years (4 semesters) credits Mobility: At least one semester = 30 credits at partner university Language of instruction: English C.G. 17

16 The Phd Programme on Climate Change 21 Objectives of the PhD Unive and CMCC joined their efforts to launch a joint PhD Program in order to provide the job market with experts with a broad, in-depth, scientific and socioeconomic background, as well as with a sound and innovative research experience focusing on the dynamics of climate change and the methodologies and techniques for evaluation and management, in terms of mitigation and adaptation measures and policies.

17 The Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change The Centro Euro-Mediterraneo per i Cambiamenti Climatici (CMCC) is an Italian Research Consortium which consist of leading public and private research institutions in the field of climate change. The members include the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV), University of Salento, University Ca Foscari of Venice, Centro Italiano Ricerche Aerospaziali (CIRA), Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM), University of Sannio and University of Sassari. CMCC provides research coordination and management for international projects led by the Italian ministries and provides technical support in several multilateral international activities such as UNFCCC, UNCCD and UNEP. In particular, the Italian Focal Point for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is based at CMCC premises. The areas of activity of the Centre are: numerical simulations and production of climate scenarios; impact studies (socio-economic, on health, agriculture, carbon cycle, desertification and coastal zones); adaptation and mitigation policies. CMCC consist of several divisions, such as the Climate Impacts and Policies Division (CIP) in Venice and the Numerical and Applications and Scenarios Division (ANS) in Bologna

19 Introduction a consortium of three Italian universities (Ca' Foscari, Salento and Sassari), established in 2008 in collaboration with the Euro-Mediterranean Centre for Climate Change (CMCC), with the aim of promoting and coordinating advanced studies on climate change impacts and policy. The three universities joined the School through PhD Programmes in the fields of agro-forestry climatology, energy systems and technology, climate change impact, management and policies, assessment and valuation methods, and on advanced integrated modelling. The School is based at the Department of Economics of the Ca' Foscari University of Venice. The School supports and organises advanced training and research activities with emphasis on the development of innovative management strategies for both physical and socio-economic climate related phenomena. 21 Building CLIMate change ADAPTation capacity in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia-CLIMADAPT Introduction Wider Objective: To support ENPI South countries in tackling Climate change through the implementation of new educational programs and the foundation of sustainable structures. Specific Project Objectives: To develop and implement an Euro-Mediterranean Master Program on Climate Change and Risk Management in line with Bologna requirements. To build a Mediterranean response to the climate change impact through the establishment of National Centres for climate change adaptation and the creation of a Regional Network.
