3 The International Programme Office for Education and Training (IPK) A public agency under the the Ministry of Education We administrate: EUs Lifelong Learning Programme Tempus and Erasmus Mundus etwinning, Europass, Euroguidance, Eurydike, Management Partnership, Coordination of the Swedish Bologna Expert Group Programmes that support cooperation with developing countries (financed by Sida and placed in Visby) National programmes Nordic programmes

5 Tempus in Sweden Since 2000, Sweden has been among the most active EU-countries Appr. 50 percent of Swedish HEIs have participated in a Tempus project since 2000 KTH Royal Institute of Technology Sweden is currently involved in 38 ongoing Tempus projects Lund University

8 Swedish national funding opportunities IPK receives about 1 million SEK every year to support Swedish participation in Tempus projects Distributed between three activities: Preparatory visits Special support (stödfinansiering) Contact seminars

9 Preparatory visits A travel grant for Swedish HEIs No deadline for applications Flat rates Special rules apply The application form (in Swedish) can be found at

10 Preparatory visits General guidelines Only for persons employed by a Swedish HEI Maximum 2 persons per HEI and visit Maximum 2 visits for the same Tempus project during an application round At least 2 working days (excluding travelling days) Application submitted at least 21 days before the visit Maximum 2 applications per institution and year

11 Preparatory visits Special needs for disabilities Granted on a needs basis in addition to the regular grant Applications are made on a separate form together with the application Medical certificate required Detailed proof of the costs required

12 Preparatory visits - practical Application form and application for special needs Report filled in electronically, printed, signed by the head of department or equivalent and sent to IPK. Note: The application must be accompanied by an invitation letter from the partner university. A travel report has to be sent to IPK within 30 days after completion of the visit. Proof of travel must be kept for at least five years at the institution.

13 Special support (stödfinansiering) Extra funding to all Swedish participants in Tempus projects both coordinators and partners No fixed amount depending on the number of projects A report has to be submitted after the end of the project

14 Special support (stödfinansiering) Special support 2010 based on the Third Call Based on EACEA s selection of projects in applications coordinated by Sweden 2 selected projects 77 applications with a Swedish partner 9 selected projects 7 Swedish partners and 2 coordinators received extra funding in December 2010 Non-HEI partners do not receive any extra funding

15 Contact Seminars Organised by IPK every/ every second year in a Tempus partner country Purpose: to facilitate for new and experienced participants to establish new contacts for their application The Swedish group at Tempus Contact Seminar in Syria 8-11 November 2010 Has so far it has been a pure Tempus activity
