2 This booklet provides information on a variety of health, education and care services for families and children. Maternal and child health centres This service provides families with children up to six years with information, guidance and support on a variety of issues, including: baby and child health and development, maternal/paternal emotional and physical health, immunisation and nutrition. 3 Family Day Care Moreland Family Day Care is an approved form of child care that is provided in a registered Family Day Care educators own home. Family Day Care educators are early childhood education and care professionals and are supported by Council s coordination unit who are responsible for approving, supporting, training and advising its educators. Families who access the service are eligible for Federal Government Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate subsidies. What are the benefits of family day care? The home-based setting provides a familiar, safe and secure learning environment. Family Day Care can provide education and care for children from babies to school age; offering the possibility for siblings to be cared for together, all in one location. Family day care provides experiences which reflect the diversity of your community. 5 Kindergartens (pre-schools) Kindergartens offer planned, educational programs for pre-school children (aged three to five years) during the four school terms. Children must be four years of age by 30 April to attend four year old kindergarten programs. Kindergarten Central Enrolment Moreland City Council administers a Kindergarten Central Enrolment system for four year old pre-schoolers.
