1 TRANSFER & ARTICULATION AGREEMENT Between METROPOLITAN COMMUNITY COLLEGE Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Veterinary Technology AND UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI in COLUMBIA Online Bachelor of General Studies Degree Completion Program (BGS) with Components in Veterinary Technology, Veterinary Biomedical Science and Behavioral Science OR American Studies OVERVIEW: This articulation agreement is made and entered into by the University of Missouri (MU) College of Arts and Science and the College of Veterinary Medicine, and the Metropolitan Community College (MCC), Kansas City, Missouri hereinafter referred to as MCC. By this agreement, MCC and the University of Missouri express a shared commitment to increasing opportunities for student access to and success in higher education. By clarifying transfer policies and procedures which assure articulation between programs, the institutions seek to assist students in making a seamless transfer from the associate to the baccalaureate degree through online learning technologies. PURPOSE: This agreement provides students who have earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Veterinary Technology from MCC the opportunity to complete an online Bachelor of General Studies Degree (BGS) with components in Veterinary Technology, Veterinary Biomedical Science and Behavioral Science OR American Studies. Any MCC student who has earned an AAS Degree as outlined below is guaranteed that MU will accept designated MCC credits, and will apply such to this online Bachelor of General Studies Degree plan in a manner consistent with the treatment of generic or native MU students. CONDITIONS OF TRANSFER: Transfer students from MCC who maintain continuous enrollment under this agreement will be afforded the same treatment and protections as MU native students enrolled under a specific catalog. Criteria for acceptance into this online articulated Degree plan at MU will be the same for transfer as for native students. Upon official request by prospective students, MCC will provide verification of completed courses and Degree requirements to MU College of Arts and Science, which awards the BGS, and also collaborates with the MU College of Veterinary Medicine on the Veterinary Biomedical Science courses. The transcript of students transferring from MCC will be evaluated by the MU Office of Admissions. Students are to have a cumulative transfer GPA of 2.5. The cumulative transfer GPA will include grades from all colleges and universities attended. Transfer students from MCC will have access to financial aid and student services on the same basis as native students. MU federal financial aid will not apply until the applicant is accepted by MU as a degree-seeking student. MU will apply the same academic progress and graduation standards to MCC transfer students as those applicable to native students at MU. This transfer agreement is limited to the online Bachelor of General Studies degree completion program with components in Veterinary Technology, Veterinary Biomedical Science and Behavioral Science OR American Studies. The prerequisites for the MU Veterinary Biomedical Technology courses require the graduation from a professionally accredited Associate Degree program in Veterinary Technology, Veterinary Assistant, Veterinary Technician or other equivalent title. 1
2 Transfer students from the MCC AAS Degree program in Veterinary Technology into the MU Bachelor of General Studies Degree will not necessarily meet the requirements to apply for entrance into the MU College of Veterinary Medicine Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) Degree program. If seeking a DVM degree becomes a goal of the student, special guidance from the MU College of Veterinary Medicine Admissions Office must be sought to ensure meeting academic and non-academic criteria to apply for admissions. SECTION II: TRANSFER OF CREDIT A maximum of 87 semester credit hours will be accepted by the MU College of Arts and Science from MCC to be applied to the Bachelor of General Studies with components in Veterinary Technology, Veterinary Biomedical Science and Behavioral Science OR American Studies. Thirty (0) of the last 6 semester hours of credit must be completed through On-Line or Face-to-Face instructional delivery at MU (residency requirement) to be applied to the Bachelor of General Studies Degree. Transfer students from MCC, with an earned AAS Degree in Veterinary Technology program meeting the criteria listed below will be accepted into the AAS/BGS degree completion program serviced by the MU College of Arts and Science. For the purposes of the MU Bachelors of General Studies Degree, MCC transfer students with an earned AAS Degree in Veterinary Technology program will be required to complete three () components of the BGS major called: (1) Veterinary Technology (all MCC transfer courses), (2) Veterinary Biomedical Science (9 credit hours of MCC transfer VETT prefix Veterinary Technology courses and 9 credit hours of MU 000+ level BIOMED courses) and () Behavioral Science OR American Studies (all MU courses from the agreement list below or credit hours of transfer and 12 credit hours of MU 000+ level courses). Criteria for Admittance to MU, College of Arts and Science, and the Online BGS Degree Completion program with Components in Veterinary Technology, Veterinary Biomedical Science, and Behavioral Science or American Studies. Undergraduate Applications for Admissions to MU. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended on file with the Admissions Office. A transcript review on file at MU. Official transcript verifying coursework and earned AAS Degree in Veterinary Technology program from MCC. Transferred MAT 120 College Algebra ( credits) from MCC (or equivalency from another accredited college/university), which is equivalent to MU s MATH 1100 College Algebra () with minimum C- grade or higher. Transferred ENGL 102 English Composition and Reading II ( credits) from MCC (or equivalency from another accredited college/university), which is equivalent to MU s ENG 1000 English Exposition and Argumentation () with minimum C- grade or higher. Transfer students from MCC will also be required to transfer the first course ENGL 101 English Composition and Reading I ( credits) from MCC as satisfying the pre-requisite course to ENG 102. ENGL 101 English Composition and Reading I will transfer as a general elective toward MU s BGS Degree. Transfer from MCC with a minimum cumulative transfer grade-point average of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) for all designated prerequisite, general education and technical coursework required in the AAS Degree in Veterinary Technology program (as laid-out below) and shall not include remedial/developmental designated courses.) 2
