3 A SUCCESS STORY SINCE 2000, WITH OVER 500 VEHICLES IN SERVICE A SUCCESS STORY... Our many customers are happy to confi rm it: the Coradia Lint is one of the most reliable rail vehicles in service today. Used by more than 20 passenger rail operators, over 500 Coradia Lint vehicles are currently in operation in three countries. To date, the entire fl eet s combined mileage tops 400 million km - the equivalent of 10,000 laps around our earth. In short, the Coradia Lint has proven its value for operations beyond Germany s borders and impresses with its high reliability over years of operation. THE CLASSICS: CORADIA TM LINT 27 AND CORADIA TM LINT 41 With its 60 to 70 seats, the Lint 27 is as much a classic as its big brother, the Lint 41 with its 115 to 130 seats. For interoperable transport, all vehicle variants are available with an entrance height of 630 mm or 810 mm above top of rail in the low-fl oor area. With a performance of 335 kw or 390 kw per powerpack, each Coradia Lint accelerates to a maximum speed of up to 140 km/h. Alstom Transport 3

4 THE LATEST CORADIA TM LINT DEVELOPMENTS Changing demands on modern diesel multiple units and new legal requirements were the catalysts behind the most recent developments in the Coradia Lint platform. New Coradia Lint vehicles offer increased capacities for passenger service in suburban areas and reach higher speeds for an optimum connection between city and region. These modifi cations have resulted in an improved barrier-free design and even better fi re protection. In parallel with the enhanced train performance, Alstom was able to reduce exhaust emissions to improve environmental compatibility. In compliance with new rules and regulations, all new generations of the Coradia Lint have shock absorbers at both ends of the vehicle to increase safety in case of collisions. The Coradia Lint thus fulfi ls the current European crash standards (EN15227). 4 Alstom Transport

6 NEW DESIGN WITH PROVEN TECHNOLOGY The Coradia Lint range has expanded. Along with today s enhanced Coradia Lint 27 and 41, the vehicle platform has also been extended by the Coradia Lint 54 and Lint 81. Alstom draws from its long-standing experience with the Coradia Lint and its well-proven technology. Our Future Meets Past motto refl ects our methodology: the adaptation of the diesel multiple units to new technical standards is based on proven components. 7 THE NEW CORADIA TM LINT 41 The new version of the proven Coradia Lint 41 is - as its predecessor - a two-car diesel multiple unit with two entrances per side. This new generation offers space for up to 130 seats and reaches a maximum speed of up to 140 km/h. Alstom Transport 7

8 THE NEW CORADIA TM LINT 81 With a vehicle length of 81 m, the Coradia Lint 81 is the longest vehicle among the newcomers and thus, also the vehicle with the largest capacity. The three-car multiple unit with six entrances per side offers up to 270 seats. This variant of the Coradia Lint has also been given more powerful engines to easily attain a maximum speed of up to 140 km/h. The traction power is 4 x 390 kw. 8 Alstom Transport

9 THE NEW CORADIA TM LINT 54 Ideal for regional or suburban service: The two-car diesel multiple unit with four entrances per side combines all the advantages of its smaller brothers while offering space for up to 170 seats. The vehicle measures 54 m in length. Thanks to its powerful engines, the Lint 54 reaches a maximum speed of up to 140 km/h. With its three powerpacks, the vehicle has a performance of about 1 MW. The modular vehicle platform allows a variable interior design and leaves nearly no customer wish unfulfi lled. Using the Coradia Lint s proven components ensures that its high reliability and availability remain unchanged. The vehicle impresses with its modern design and allows convenient and fast travel. The interior layout makes railway journeys safe and comfortable for mobility-impaired people. 12 SEAMLESS MOBILITY FOR ALL PASSENGERS The Coradia Lint allows mobility-impaired people to enjoy convenient and comfortable travelling. All applicable TSI PRM accessibility requirements have been fulfi lled. Depending on the railway network, two different entrance heights can be chosen (630 and 810 mm above Top-of-Rail). To prevent jamming, the large doors are equipped with light curtain switches and contact strips. Furthermore, the door closing is announced by means of an audible alert and a red light. The retractable steps at all door thresholds ensure easy and safe accessibility. Depending on the platform, the movable step can also be used as a gap bridging between the vehicle and the platform edge. Special ramps operated by train staff allow wheelchair users to travel comfortably. The high-contrast colour scheme of the train ensures an optimum orientation within the vehicle. Thanks to tactile pushbuttons, visually-impaired passengers can use all important functions. The barrier-free toilet in the vehicle is very spacious. If required, an emergency intercom ensures a direct connection to the driver. The spacious low-fl oor area provides maximum mobility. Specially designated wheelchair areas also reserve space for accompanying persons. 12 Alstom Transport

13 COMFORT IS A TOP PRIORITY The Coradia Lint is the ideal vehicle for attractive suburban and regional traffi c. The modular design allows individual interior fi ttings. For optimum travelling comfort, the customer can choose different seat types with armrests, variable seat pitches, tables, reading lights, sockets, audio systems, information displays or luggage racks. A special kids corner makes rail travel more fun for children. A separate 1 st class, e.g. with leather seats and extra legroom, ensures premium comfort. Powerful ventilation and/or air conditioning generate a pleasant room climate. Large panoramic windows provide a friendly atmosphere and offer a perfect view of the landscape. The multi-purpose areas offer space for wheelchairs, prams and bicycles. There is also enough space for a ticket or snack vending machine. A modern passenger information system informs travellers about the next stops and connecting trains. The optional video monitoring increases passenger safety. 14 ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY FOR HIGH QUALITY SERVICE DESIGN TO MEET 21 ST CENTURY NEEDS Recent operating experience has infl uenced the further development of the vehicle family. Thanks to this extensive experience in service, the Coradia Lint is ideally prepared for the future. Today, the Coradia Lint is homologated in three countries and others are expected to follow. Multiple-unit operation of the latest generation Coradia Lint with existing vehicles is foreseen. Thanks to the powerful motorization, even challenging timetables can be kept. Large tanks ensure a high operating range. The maximum speed of up to 140 km/h ensures short travel times. Furthermore, shock absorbers in front of all driver s cabs guarantee increased passive safety and fullfi ll EN standards. All of this applies not only in Germany, where the trains are running from north to south on several networks, but also in Denmark, in the Netherlands and soon in North America. TRAVELLING GREEN WITH THE CORADIA LINT With regard to legal requirements and technical standards, the Coradia Lint is always way ahead. The modern, powerful diesel engines meet the new EU exhaust standards (Stage IIIb) which requires a 50 % reduction of NOx to 2g/kWh and a 80 % reduction of particles to g/kwh). Furthermore, the vehicles lightweight construction ensures low energy consumption. As for the new variants Coradia Lint 54 and 81, one powerpack can be switched off in case of low performance requirement. Thus, the Coradia Lint enhances the sustainability of rail travel. 14 Alstom Transport

15 THE CORADIA LINT A TRAIN WITH A FUTURE Trains in Alstom Coradia Lint range have been ordered by numerous customers in Europe and recently in North America. And the success story continues: With its recent upgrading, the modern diesel multiple units will remain attractive in the future. In parallel, the extension of the vehicle family opens up new fi elds of application for the Coradia Lint. Stronger and faster vehicles offer additional capacity to meet the needs of regions with expanding ridership. The new vehicles meet all technical requirements of future standards while relying on many years of experience with proven components. In this way, non-electrifi ed railways in the future can also be operated reliably and economically. TOP PRIORITY FOR ECONOMIC OPERATION Low operating costs have become increasingly important to rail operaters. The vehicle platform ensures maximum conformity between the different types of the Coradia Lint - between the new vehicles as well as between the vehicles already in passenger service. Maximum use of service-proven components increases vehicle reliability and ensures effective spare parts planning. The further development of today s multiple units also offers signifi cant advantages in terms of maintenance.
