7 Strategic t fit and objectives Relevance with the Strategic Research Agenda The proposed research program is planned to support the strategic research topics in the area of Measurement, monitoring and environmental efficiency assessment (SRA8) by developing interoperable environmental observation systems, management system for environmental efficiency, new on-line & remote sensing technologies, and demonstrating the results in the MMEA Testbed. Program objectives The program aims to develop new technologies, methods, tools and services in order to 1) create new business development environment 2) support other SHOK research areas

10 WP 1 Interoperable Measurement Systems Content Development of an interoperable, quality controlled measurement & monitoring platform Technology areas to be developed are: Advanced solutions for collection, storage and distribution of measurement data Embedded quality control for enhanced data and network reliability Efficient i use of metadata t (e.g. "plug-and-measure" " capability) Open interface specifications for environmental observation systems Data fusion and modeling Decision Support Systems Adaptation of relevant standards (INSPIRE EU-directive, OGC SWE standards etc.) Horizontal project that supports other CLEEN/SHOK programs by delivering measurement t& monitoring i tools

12 WP2 Management System for Environmental Efficiency The objective is to enable industry and authorities to design, evaluate and monitor environmental efficiency of products and processes with help of management system for EE. The system composes four elements and it will be carried out by - Sector-specific methods for assessing environmental efficiency - Integrating the assessment methods to the monitoring and data management systems - Verification practices for data quality - Decision support tools
