5 This was a study to determine whether achievement gains and literacy instructional practices were sustained beyond the funding period for the ERIG grant. My role was to gather data from students (grades 1-4) and teachers who had achieved success through the ERIG grant to help determine sustainability of achievement Grant Assistant "FAB:ulous! Project" (Families and Books). Diane Kyle, Hope Longwell-Grice, Ellen McIntyre, Codirectors This grant was designed to enhance family involvement in literacy at McFerran Elementary (grades K-5). My role was to help develop and coordinate "Family Literacy Nights" Research Assistant "The Academic and Social Development of Children in Nongraded Primary Programs". Ric Hovda, Ellen McIntyre, Diane Kyle, Co-directors This four-year project was designed to study the effects of the ungraded primary program on children of poverty. My responsibilities included testing children in areas of literacy and math in order to collect data for analysis by project directors Project Coordinator Early and Middle Childhood Education Department (currently named the Department of Teaching and Learning) "Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education Birth to Primary Implementation Grant". Laura Westberg and Anne Netick, Co-directors Tamera Rubenstein and Yash Bhagwanji, Co-directors This project was designed to develop an Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education Teacher Certification program at the University of Louisville. As Project Coordinator, I attended state meetings, arranged meetings at U of L, participated in program development, and tended to all the clerical needs of the project. GRANT AWARDS 2000 Principal Investigator Early and Middle Childhood Education Department (currently the ) "IECE Proficiency Evaluation" Funded by Kentucky Department of Education. ($21,697.00) This project was a continuation of the one described above (Grant Work from ) designed to develop an Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education Teacher

6 Certification program at the University of Louisville. I became the Principal Investigator, continuing to develop and refine the early childhood certification program Coordinator, "Buddy Program" Early and Middle Childhood Education Department (currently the ) Awarded $ by the C.F. Pollard Foundation, Inc. to support U of L Buddy Program at Auburndale Elementary School This was a project developed through a course I taught (EDEM 508: Child & Family Studies, Seminar II) where education students from the University of Louisville served as "buddies" to fifth grade students at Auburndale Elementary School in Jefferson County. My role was to coordinate activities/events in which these students participated as partners both at the university and the elementary school. Presentations: 1997 "The Buddy Connection" presented at the Child Development Project Conference (Berkeley, CA) held at National-Louis University in Evanston, IL "University of Louisville Birth to Primary Certification Program: Choices, Experiences, Outcomes" presented at Kentucky Early Childhood Association Conference in Owensboro, KY.
