Students can apply these skills as entry-level employees in a variety of organizations including business, government or nonprofit sectors. A.A. During our program, students learn the keys to child assessment, curriculum planning, parent communication, skills for teaching art and literature to children and much more. Most importantly, our students study children; how they operate, what they think and how, as an early childhood educator, you can ensure that they reach their full potential. The Midway College Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education prepares students to achieve goals that model the leadership role of the teacher. Critical outcome components of the degree program are to teach our students to 1) think critically, solve problems and act decisively; 2) demonstrate a deepening knowledge and appreciation of self and others, 3) demonstrate a commitment to diversity, and 4) demonstrate professionalism. The Midway College Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education is offered on the Midway, Kentucky campus and is open to both Women s College and Co-Ed Adult Undergraduate students. A.S. 3 The Midway College Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN) program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. Our program prepares students to become registered nurses and also qualifies those students for admission into a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. What makes our Nursing program special? We offer a strong curriculum and team-taught classroom theory, as well as concentrated, supervised laboratory and clinical experiences in several health care agencies in central Kentucky. But what s really special is our dedicated faculty who train our students the nurses of tomorrow. Admission to the program is selective. CHELOR DEGREES Maggie Moore 12 ADN & B.S. Nursing assist with patient care management and often conduct managerial functions. Students who successfully complete this program may be eligible for national credentialing. Midway College s Associate of Science in Medical Assisting degree program is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). Accreditation by ABHES signifies that the institution has met the eligibility criteria and evaluation standards of ABHES as evidenced during its most recent on-site review and continues to comply with the policies and procedures for maintenance of accreditation as established by ABHES. This program is offered 100 percent online or in a blended format. Students living within a reasonable distance (2-hour drive) of Midway College are expected to attend a clinical skills lab on campus prior to beginning Externship. A.S. Nursing (ADN) With an aging population, medical advances, and an ever growing need for health care services, the nursing profession continues to grow and needs well-trained caregivers. For students, nursing offers tremendous career potential. Midway College s Nursing program is regarded as one of the best in the state of Kentucky. The proof is in this amazing fact: 97 percent of our Nursing students are hired before they even graduate and 100 percent after graduation! B.B.A. Accounting Midway College s Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting is designed to prepare learners for leadership positions in the fast growing and challenging field of accounting. Accounting professionals perform vital functions for their clients or organizations by offering an increasingly wide array of services. Midway s accounting degree meets the course requirements to sit for the CPA and CMA exams. Kentucky, along with most other states, requires candidates who sit for the CPA exam to have completed a baccalaureate degree with 27 semester hours of accounting courses. Kentucky also requires 150 semester hours and one year of professional accounting experience to be fully licensed as a CPA. Students can earn these additional credit hours in undergraduate or graduate courses at Midway College. B.A Business Administration Midway College s Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration prepares graduates as competent professionals ready to enter the business, government or nonprofit arenas with a solid working knowledge of the core skills of leadership, management, quantitative analysis and strategy. Our students will master skills in the areas of leadership, team building, and human relations. Students in the Business Administration program can also choose to do an area of concentration in accounting. B.S. Criminal Justice The field of Criminal Justice is broad. From local law enforcement to federal level investigative bureaus, the need for trained and skilled professionals continues to grow. Midway College s Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice prepares learners to manage activities related to law enforcement, corrections and courts. This is a strong skills development and training program to prepare students to succeed at any level within the criminal justice system. Our coursework places a strong emphasis on criminal investigations and understanding the entire criminal justice system from cause of criminal

4 activity to the court processes and incarceration. Course subjects include correctional systems structure and processes; psychological, historical and societal issues of terrorism; interviewing and interrogation; forensic and abnormal psychology; courts and court procedures; and more. Each student will present a capstone project as the culmination of their learning during the program, applying the knowledge to specific criminal justice areas of interest. B.A. Health Care Administration The Midway College Bachelor of Arts in Health Care Administration degree focuses on the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to assume leadership or management roles in the healthcare industry. The program gives students a broad knowledge of health care policy and financing, as well as leadership and management methods and technologies. Career options include emergency medical services coordinator, health consultant, hospital comptroller, occupational safety and health inspector, public health statistician, hospital personnel director, public health inspector, and social welfare administrator. B.A. Interdisciplinary Studies The Midway College Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies degree program prepares students to meet the needs of today s employers by emphasizing the following: strong oral and written communication skills, critical thinking, technology and information literacy, and global awareness. This major provides an alternative for baccalaureate degree-seeking students whose needs cannot be met by other individual majors. The Midway College Interdisciplinary Studies Program allows flexibility for students to design a degree program that is relevant to their academic interests and career objectives. B.S. Nursing (RN-BSN) Midway College s Nursing program is regarded as one of the best in the state of Kentucky. Our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is designed for working registered nurses. Students entering the RN-BSN degree program are RNs who have previously earned either an associate degree or diploma in nursing and have a current Kentucky RN license. This program consists of the upper division level course work necessary to complete the baccalaureate degree in 12 months in a blended format, which means most of the courses are completely online with some in-seat instruction. Midway College s Nursing program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN). B.A. Psychology Psychology involves the scientific study of individual behavior and mental processes. The Midway College Psychology Bachelor of Arts degree is a generalist program emphasizing the breadth of psychology. Completion of this degree program provides education for students who wish to pursue graduate study in the subfields of psychology (e.g., counseling, child development, or educational psychology). Students are also prepared for entry-level occupations in human services including therapeutic, industrial, educational, or governmental positions. Unique aspects of the psychology degree program include a one-semester practicum in a community agency and a capstone senior seminar in which students produce original research. B.A. Sport Management Midway College s Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management degree prepares students for managing sport programs in a variety of settings: business, community, public, or private. Students will earn a well-rounded education that integrates sport industry knowledge with the fundamentals of management, marketing, accounting, and finance. The job market for graduates includes positions in college athletic departments, professional sport organizations, sport governing bodies, event and facility management, ticket sales, public relations, sport marketing and more.
