3 Why Buy a Cellar Tech Containment Well Cellar? Environmental anything that ends up in the cellar is contained and there is no soil or ground water exposure. If used with a drip liner under the rig, the operation can be zero discharge. Economics the prefabricated well cellar is usually cost neutral at worst. Upfront cost is higher than a section of culvert pipe no doubt. But after totaling up the cost of pumping and hauling, rig fabricated cellar covers, and lower worker productivity working around the old cellars, most operators have reported that the prefabricated cellars are no more expensive than what they were doing an a whole lot better to work around. Safety the cellars are typically provided with OSHA compliant, slip resistant, work surfaces manufactured to fit. Confined space entry requirements can also be reduced or eliminated. They make the cellar significantly safer during drilling, completion, and production operations. Features until now, the well cellar has never been considered a part of the facility...it has always been an afterthought. Optional features can include integral piping, sumps, well house mounting lugs, control line or conduit penetrations, drilling riser quick connects, load bearing base plates and more Regulatory awareness is increasing. At least 1 state recently amended their regulations to require a sealed well cellar. Others have legislation pending. There is also some EPA attention to this issue. If there are no changes, I prepare a cost estimate and delivery. If engineering is requested by the customer, I prepare it at this time.
