Developed a handbook for healthcare providers on the epidemiology, screening, diagnosis, management and complications of chlamydia and gonorrhea. Monitored chlamydia and gonorrhea surveillance in eight states and maintained the largest chlamydia and gonorrhea prevalence monitoring dataset in the US. Doubled the number of annual chlamydia screenings to 1 million persons in the southeast. Consulted and provided technical assistance to project areas at regional and state levels to promote best practices in STD prevention. Analyzed state and regional STD data and utilized data for program planning, monitoring, and evaluation. Health Services TB Program Manager TB Control Program, Hillsborough County Health Department, Tampa, FL Established and directed the tuberculosis (TB) surveillance programs in two counties in Florida. Directed the Tuberculosis Control Program with a staff of 25 employees including management of TB field operations, surveillance, outreach staff and clinic activities. Expanded outreach staff to promote direct observed therapy (DOT), education, treatment and prevention. Managed TB surveillance data, analyzed data and prepared reports for program planning and evaluation. Consulted and provided technical assistance in TB prevention and control to TB staff, health care providers, hospital infection control nurses and community based agencies. Computerized the TB control program and established one of the largest computerized TB registries in the United States. Implemented and evaluated quality control measures and negotiated with hospitals and local providers to increase the reporting of TB cases.
