9 The primary goal of arts education is to offer students profound and unique experiences that last a lifetime. *Rigor in the Arts

10 Doing Students learn techniques necessary to effectively sing, dance, act, play musical instruments, draw, paint, or create art in individual and group settings. Knowing Students learn appropriate terminology, the history of their art, artistic literacy, as well as observational skills, listening skills, and critical thinking skills. *Rigor in the Arts

11 Performing Students produce high quality artistic performances or pieces of art. Acting Students develop artistic presence, or how to conduct themselves as artists in rehearsal and performance settings. *Rigor in the Arts

13 More than 200 dance students participate in the Annual Volusia County Dance Performance Assessments. More than 750 music students participate in the Annual Volusia All-County band, Chorus, orchestra, jazz band, and Elementary Music Showcases. More than 300 theatre students participate in the Annual District Thespian Assessments. More than 2,000 art students participate annually in community festivals and Volusia County Art Exhibits. More than 300 students participate in adjudicated art exhibits, i.e., Florida State Fair, Scholastics, Volusia Select, A. P. Studio Art Exhibit, and Volusia Students Create. * VCS Students Participate in the Arts!
