8 Carolina Treatment Center of Pinehurst Opioid Treatment Program 20 Page Drive (Suite 8) Pinehurst, NC Phone: (877) The Carolina Treatment Center of Pinehurst Opioid Treatment Program provides medically supervised methadone maintenance and Suboxone (buprenorphine) detox treatment to individuals who are attempting to overcome an addiction to or dependence upon heroin or other opioids. Methadone hydrochloride is a synthetic "opioid agonist," which means that it acts in a way that is similar to morphine and other narcotic medications. When used in proper doses as part of a medically supervised opioid addiction treatment program, methadone blocks cravings and other withdrawal symptoms without creating the euphoric or sedative states that result from opioid abuse. Buprenorphine is a partial opioid receptor agonist. Like methadone, buprenorphine can relieve opioid withdrawal symptoms without producing the intoxicating effects that are associated with opioid abuse. Buprenorphine was the first medication for the treatment of opioid dependence to be approved under the Drug Addiction Treatment Act of The goal of our comprehensive treatment clinics is first to stabilize patients so they can maintain independent, productive lives, and second to engage clients in the ongoing process of rehabilitation. Our clinics specialize in detoxification and recovery through medication-assisted therapy, counseling, and support services. Beginning with a detailed psychological assessment, our skilled staff guides patients through a medically supervised stabilization period that integrates individual, group, and family counseling with state-of-the-art medication treatments such as buprenorphine, Suboxone, and methadone, followed by continuing outpatient care. To be eligible for this type of treatment at the Carolina Treatment Center of Pinehurst OTP, prospective patients much be at least 18 years old, and must have been addicted to or dependent upon opiates for a minimum of one year prior to seeking treatment. Women who are currently patients undergoing medicated-assisted treatment at our facility, and become pregnant while in our program, are closely monitored by our clinicians, nurses and the Medical Director for effectiveness of their dosage throughout their pregnancy.
