In their second yer, students must successfully complete BA 220. BA 220 is to be tken in students fourth semester nd is intended to develop professionl presence the verbl nd nonverbl skills necessry to excel professionlly. Foreign Lnguge Requirement The College of Business Administrtion requires t lest two yers of single foreign lnguge in high school with minimum grdes of C s criterion for dmission. Students who re dmitted with deficiency in this re must tke two semesters of single foreign lnguge t the

Mthemtics Requirements Business students must register for mthemtics course every semester beginning with their first semester of enrollment until one of the required mthemtics trcks hs been completed. After completing the required mth courses, students must enroll in Business Sttistics (IDS 270). Grde Point Averge (GPA) Requirement In ddition to meeting ll University requirements for the degree, students must ern minimum cumultive GPA of 2.00/4.00 in ech of the following to qulify for grdution: 1. ll courses tken t the University of Illinois t Chicgo 2. ll courses (UIC nd trnsfer) counted towrd the degree nd. in the mjor. Grdution Declrtion/Filing to Grdute/Degree Completion The College of Business Administrtion is dedicted to ssisting students with the chievement of both their cdemic nd professionl gols in timely mnner. One semester before grdution, CBA students re required to meet with their cdemic dvisor to complete grdution check. When students register for their finl semester of courses, they will lso declre their intent to grdute online using Student Self-Service. The dedline to declre grdution in the my.uic system is the end of the third week (fll nd spring) or second week (Summer Session 2) of the term in which grdution is sought. Filure to complete these two steps my dely the wrding of the degree to the next semester. A finl review of the records will be mde following the close of the term. Students completing ll degree requirements for their declred mjor will need permission from their college to enroll in dditionl undergrdute courses. 5 University of Illinois t Chicgo 5 Enrollment Residence Requirement The following college enrollment residence requirements pply to ll CBA students: Once student hs reched junior stnding (erned 60 semester hours of college credit), he/she must ern t lest 60 dditionl semester hours t n ccredited four-yer institution. The college nd deprtment enrollment residence requirements must lso be fulfilled. The lst 0 hours of course work must be tken in enrollment residence t UIC. Furthermore, t lest 0 of the 60 semester hours in the Business Course Requirements section of the curriculum must be tken in enrollment residence t UIC. At lest two-thirds of the credit required for deprtmentl mjor must be completed t UIC. Concurrent ttendnce t the University of Illinois t Chicgo nd nother collegite institution or enrollment during the summer t nother institution, when pproved by the student s college, does not interrupt the UIC enrollment residence requirement for grdution. Ethics Requirement All students re required to demonstrte understnding of business ethics through completion of n online ethics exmintion or by tking n ethics course offered in the CBA. Assessment Requirement To ensure the qulity of the cdemic progrm nd to ssist in continuous improvement efforts, ll students must prticipte in one ssessment event prior to grdution. Students will register for noncredit course (BA 95) to complete this requirement. Computer Requirement Business students re required to hve lptop computer tht cn run the ltest versions of Microsoft Windows nd Office nd hs Wi-Fi or wireless internet ccess. College Policies Acdemic Lod To be considered full-time student during the fll nd spring semesters, student must be registered for minimum of 12 semester hours. For Summer Session 1 (Four-Week) nd Summer Session 2 (Eight-Week), UIC considers totl ggregte of 6 semester hours s the minimum number necessry to constitute full-time enrollment. A mximum of 18 semester hours my be tken in semester (12 hours between the two summer sessions). To complete CBA degree within four yers, student must tke n verge course lod of hours per semester. Students requiring prerequisite mth or English courses should pln to ttend summer school to ensure timely grdution nd meet this gol. For ech hour of registered course work, students should expect to complete three hours of homework, studying, nd reding. Acdemic Probtion nd Dismissl Rules Students cdemic sttus will be bsed on their semester or cumultive grde point verge. Students re in good stnding, on probtion, or dismissed. Students cn check their cdemic sttus fter ech semester on my.uic. Students who re on cdemic probtion or who hve been dismissed re informed of their sttus by UIC emil from the college following the end of the semester. Probtion Rules Students will be plced on cdemic probtion in ny term in which they ern either cumultive or semester grde point verge of less thn 2.00/4.00. They will then be expected to ern t lest 2.00/4.00 semester grde point verge nd to rise their cumultive grde point verge to 2.00/4.00 to chieve good cdemic stnding. Acdemic probtion t UIC cn only be removed by successfully completing dditionl course work t UIC. Probtion is broken down s follows. The following rules re pplied to determine the cdemic sttus of student on probtion: 1. A student in good cdemic stnding is plced on semester probtion for ny semester in which less thn 2.00/4.00 GPA is erned, but the UIC cumultive GPA is 2.00 or higher (Wrning Sttus). 2. A student in good cdemic stnding is plced on cdemic probtion in ny semester in which the UIC cumultive GPA flls below 2.00/ A student currently on cdemic probtion is continued on cdemic probtion (unless dismissed from the University) until both the cumultive GPA nd the UIC GPA re rised to 2.00/4.00. CBA Undergrdute Progrms determines the conditions of probtion. In ddition to specifying the grde point verge, the college my require the completion of specific courses, limit the number of hours for which students register, nd exclude students from tking certin courses while on probtion.
6 6 College of Business Administrtion All students on probtion re required to dhere to the following terms of probtion (cdemic restrictions). Filure to do so will result in registrtion holds nd possible cdemic dismissl. 1. Students must meet with their cdemic dvisor to complete n cdemic contrct. The contrct will include ny requirements nd/or restrictions for the student s next semester. 2. Students must schedule n ppointment with their CBA cdemic dvisor two dditionl times during the semester to discuss their cdemic progress for the term.. Students cnnot register for more thn 12 hours of course work for the semester (6 hours during the summer term). 4. Students must seek tutoring in their wek subject res, i.e. mth, ccounting, economics, sttistics, etc. Tutoring is vilble in the College of Business Administrtion Undergrdute Progrms Office, during the fll nd spring semesters, the Honors College, the Business Lerning Center (BLC), nd the Mthemticl Science Lerning Center, s well s mny other support progrms on cmpus. Dismissl Rules 1. If student is on cdemic probtion, the student my be dismissed in ny term in which he/she fils to meet the grde point verge required by the probtion sttus nd in which the cumultive grde point verge in courses tken t UIC is less thn 2.00/ If student is on cdemic probtion, the student my be dismissed in ny term in which he/she fils to meet the grde point verge required by the probtion nd in which the combined trnsfer nd UIC grde point verge is less thn 2.00/ If the student fils to mke ny significnt progress towrd degree, the student my be dismissed from the college, nd is therefore ineligible to enroll t the University in subsequent semesters. 4. The student my be dismissed in ny term in which he or she fils to comply with the conditions set by the College of Business Administrtion. Chnge of Course Schedule Dropping Courses Undergrdute students my drop courses using my.uic through the end of the second week of clsses for fll nd spring semesters, the first Wednesdy of Summer Session 1, or the first Fridy of Summer Session 2. During weeks through 10 of the fll nd spring semesters (first Thursdy through the second Wednesdy of Summer Session 1 or weeks 2 through 5 of Summer Session 2), students my drop courses with the permission of their mjor college. If the drop occurs between 0 nd 2 weeks in fll nd spring, there will be no nottion on the trnscript. If the drop occurs during weeks through 10 in fll nd spring (first Thursdy through the second Wednesdy of Summer Session 1 or weeks 2 through 5 of Summer Session 2), W is noted on the trnscript. Undergrdute students my drop mximum of 4 UIC individul courses tht result in W nottion on their trnscript during their entire undergrdute degree progrm. To void difficulty, CBA suggests tht students do the following: Meet with CBA cdemic dvisor ech semester to pln mngeble course schedule nd sty on trck for grdution. Get feedbck from their instructors before the drop dedline to determine if they re succeeding in their clsses. Give creful considertion before using this option erly in their cdemic creer. Chnge of Mjor/Declring Mjor Students re encourged to discuss their options for mjors within the College of Business Administrtion with fculty, creer dvisors, nd cdemic dvisors. CBA students must declre mjor by the end of their sophomore yer. Declring or chnging mjor is done by mking n ppointment with n cdemic dvisor. Clss Attendnce CBA s expecttion is tht students will ttend ll clsses becuse it is necessry for chieving cdemic success. Ech instructor my estblish specific ttendnce requirements for his/her course. The instructor is responsible for mking the ttendnce policy cler to the students. An instructor cnnot drop student from course due to nonttendnce. It is the student s responsibility to mke certin tht ll courses re dded nd dropped properly by the published dedlines. Closed Courses Courses close becuse mximum enrollment cpcity is plced on ech course. This limit cnnot be exceeded due to sfety nd environmentl regultions. It is necessry tht students register t their ssigned time to ensure the preferred course schedule. College Level Exmintion Progrm (CLEP) The College of Business Administrtion ccepts mximum of 0 semester hours of CLEP (College Level Exmintion Progrm) credit towrd the degree requirements. Exmintions my provide credit if pproved by the college. CLEP credit will be wrded towrd the CBA degree requirements bsed on the description nd content of the exm, permission from the college, nd the score erned on the exm. A minimum score of 65 is required. The CBA does not ccept CLEP for English composition or foreign lnguge credit. CLEP exms re dministered on cmpus by the Office of Testing Services t (12) Course Prerequisites Students must meet ll course prerequisites. The most up-to-dte prerequisites for courses re listed on my.uic ( common). Prerequisites re put on courses to ensure students success in the course nd to mximize understnding nd comprehension of the cdemic mteril. Students who do not meet published prerequisites my be dropped from the course. Independent Study Students re required to contct n instructor in their mjor field of study to propose topic for independent study. In ddition, if the course is to be pplied towrd the mjor, forml petition must be pproved by the deprtment hed nd the Undergrdute Progrms Office of the college. Proficiency credit cnnot be erned by CBA students for mjor-level courses, nor cn proficiency credit erned for foreign lnguge be used towrds the degree. A student who erns proficiency credit is given the mount of credit towrd grdution regulrly llowed in the course. Proficiency credit is not considered n interruption of the enrollment residence requirement, nor stisfction of the lst 0-semester-hour enrollment residence requirement for grdution. The College of Business Administrtion holds biweekly informtion sessions for students who wish to trnsfer into the college.
