9 Schedule 1 st Semester VN Common Health Deviations I VN 230L Common Health Deviations I - Lab 1 Students meet 1st day of VN 230L lab on Monday, 10/20/14 at 8am, M214, not in uniform. Students are required to complete 2 hours of vocational nursing learning activities in a Success Center over the course of the semester rotation. Prerequisite: VN 220, VN 225, and BIO 60. Grading: letter grade Admission to the program is required prior to enrolling in this first clinical course of the vocational nursing program. The course includes the nursing concepts of the nursing process, Orem s self-care theory, disuse syndrome, skin integrity/wound care, activity and rest, altered nutrition, and risk for injury and fluid and electrolytes. Other topics include pathophysiology and nursing care for patients with diabetes, cardiovascular problems and respiratory disorders. 2 **Note: $10.00 materials fee paid at registration** Students meet 1st day of lab on Monday, 10/20/14 at 8am, M214, not in uniform. Corequisite: VN 230 Grading: pass/no pass This course provides opportunity for nursing students to practice the concepts learned in VN230 in a hospital or subacute setting. The campus lab content includes basic data collection and health assessment, preparation of nursing care plan, nursing documentation, oxygen therapy, and medication administration. Compliance with all clinical agency policies is required the first day of the course.
