Expertise, peak performance No age trends: Rare (5%) Promoted by experiences Combination: Personality, intelligence, and cognitive style WISDOM Alternative definitions: Timeless knowledge about the universals of human nature. Knowledge that comes from seeing through illusion. WISDOM: Alternatives Common unifying characteristics Theoretical and practical wisdom. Secular and sacred wisdom. Eastern and Western wisdom Ancient and modern wisdom. 5

Relativistic thinking: knowledge depends on the perspective of the knower. Beyond simple dualistic thinking (us vs. them). Radical realization that all human knowledge is contextual.
