Flat Washers 8-5 /16" Lock Washers 8-5 /16" Flat Washers 4-5 /16" Flange Nuts, SS 4-7 /16" x 1 3 /4" Bolts 4-7 /16" Nylock Washers 4-7 /16" Washer X-struts for AT481Z1 H-struts for AT481Z1 36" H-Strut Kit for belt drive (FH1950) includes: same as above with HP1120 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS! WARNING Disassembling the fan. 1) Remove the shutter or inlet guard from the fan. See Figure 1. 2) Remove the existing drive belt (as necessary). See Figure 2. High Voltage, disconnect power before servicing. 3) Disconnect the electrical power leads from the motor. See Figure 2. Existing Inlet (shutter side) Figure 2 Figure 1 Page 1 of 7

2 4) Before removing propeller, place an alignment mark on shaft with a marker. This will be used later to reinstall the propeller to this location. Take the propeller off the shaft, remove belt tensioner and bearing assembly (if applicable). The bearing assembly consists of two (2) bearings, a shaft and a drive pulley. Remove the motor from the strut. See Figure 3. 5) Remove the ten (10) fasteners attaching the X-strut frame to the housing, discard the frame and ten (10) fasteners. They can be determined by two steps. a) The angle of bend in the strut will determine the top/bottom. The larger angle is the top of the strut and the smaller is the bottom. See Figure 4. b) With struts in front of you. The left strut will have the brass threaded insert facing you on the left and the right brass threaded inserts on your right. This is the exhaust side. See Figure 4. 7) Identify/locate the motor base. For belt drive fans, it is the base with a front and 2 side flanges. Direct drive fans only have motor base. See Figure 5. 3 8) With the struts in front of you (same as Step 6b) fasten the motor base to the struts using (6) 1 /4" x 1.5" bolts, washers and flange nuts. For belt drive fans, the flanges on the base point downward and the front flange will be away from you. See Figure 6. Bolt to be inserted through the upper holes of the strut first and then the base. Place flat washer over bolt against motor base and finger tighten flange nut. See Figure 6. 9) Fasten bearing support to the strut using same technique as in Step 8. Bearing support only has flanges on 2 sides. See Figure 6. Be sure to finger tighten only. 4 10) Position the assembled H-frame into the housing with the exhaust side (brass/nut inserts) against the housing. See Figure 7. 11) Align the outermost hole in the top left strut to the outermost hole in corner of the housing and fasten using (1) 5 /16" x 1" bolt, lock washer and flat washer from the outside of the fan. Be sure the flat washer is against fan housing. Finger tighten only, See Figure 7. 12) Repeat Step 11 for other 3 corners of housing and strut. Strut Assembly Outer most hole Washer Lock Washer 5 /16" x 1" Bolt Figure 7 Housing 13) From the inside of the housing, use a drill and 1 /8" bit to drill a pilot hole in each corner of housing using the inner most holes in each strut. Be sure to center pilot hole. See Figure 8. 14) From the outside of the housing, drill (4) 15 /32" holes in the housing using pilot holes from previous step as guides, See Figure 9. Be very careful as to NOT drill into brass nut insert. It is recommended that the bolts installed in outermost holes be loosened or removed to move strut assembly away from housing before drilling. 5 15) If struts were removed or loosened in Step 14, replace struts and tighten fasteners finger tight. In the (4) holes just drilled in housing, place (1) 5 /16" x 1" bolt, lock washer and flat washer making sure flat washer is against housing and finger tighten. 16) Fully tighten the motor and bearing support bolts first and then tighten the strut and housing bolts. Installing the drive components and propeller. 17) Install the bearing assembly, removed in Step 4, to the bearing base (lower base). DO NOT tighten bolts tight at this time. To allow for proper alignment of bearings, loosen set screws on the bearing closest to the pulley and move as needed. See Figure 10. Retighten bearing set screws to 75 in.- lbs torque 18) Install motor, removed in Step 3, to motor base, insuring the motor support is square with the motor base. Using straight edge, align motor pulley with propeller pulley and tighten motor bolts. See Figures 11A & 11B. 19) Slide propeller on the shaft to its original position as marked on shaft in Step 4 and tighten set screw to 150 in. lbs of torque. Check to be sure propeller is centered in orifice. 20) If optional belt tensioner was purchased then proceed to Step 22. If reinstalling existing link belt then proceed to Step 21. 6 21) Reinstall the belt by wrapping it around the smaller pulley and then starting it over the larger pulley. As you continue rolling it onto the larger pulley, the belt should become taut in the position shown in Figure 12. If the belt becomes taut before reaching the position shown, add one link and try again. If the belt is loose when in the position shown, remove one link and try again. Proceed to Step 1 of Drive Alignment. 22) If optional belt tensioner was purchased, install the belt tensioner finger tight, in the left hole of the motor base as viewed from the inlet of the fan. See Figure 13. Washer Bolt Left Hole Tensioner Figure 12 Figure 13 IMPORTANT DO NOT loosen/move the bearing farthest from the pulley. The current position is necessary to maintain the correct propeller location. 23) To adjust the belt tensioner to the proper setting place a 15 /16" wrench onto the 15 /16" hex on the tensioner. See Figure 14. Turn wrench Counterclockwise until the single mark on one half of the belt tensioner is aligned half way between marks 2 and 3 on the opposite half of the tensioner. See Figure 14. Hold tensioner at this setting and tighten the 3 /8" x 1 3 /4" bolt fastening the tensioner to the motor base to 40ft.-lbs of torque. 7 Drive Alignment (Belt drive fans only) 1) Use a straight edge to check the alignment of the pulleys. See Figure 15. 2) If a belt tensioner is installed, check alignment of belt on idler pulley, it should be centered on the idler pulley. The belt tensioner s idler pulley is fixed in position, therefore, alignment must be obtained by adjusting the motor and propeller pulleys. 3) If an adjustment is needed, remove the belt, then loosen the set screws in the pulleys and move them as necessary to achieve proper alignment. 4) Remember to tighten the pulley set screws after making an adjustment. 5) Drive alignment is very important for long belt life and proper operation.
