2 Background Implementation work is undertaken by the PETRONAS Technology & Engineering group via its Engineering Design Office (EDO - formerly known as GTS) for the past 5 years for PETRONAS originally for Downstream business Since then, P-EDMS has been successfully implemented and currently running on more than 30 major capital projects (Green Field) upstream & downstream. These are the projects managed by the T&E s Engineering Design Office (EDO) P-EDMS is powered by the SmartPlant Enterprise for Owner Operator (SPO) at its core as the Standard Engineering Data Management System for PETRONAS Technical Data had chosen to implement P-EDMS on both its Upstream Green Field & Brown Field projects as the system is already established and proven in the PETRONAS environment as well as a number of other major international OOs such as Shell, BP, ConocoPhillips.

20 How is it different? Traditional Document Management System SmartPlant Fusion Most file based systems model their information using a hierarchical cabinet folder file paradigm. Susceptible to duplicates and mis-filing Hard to find what you re looking for unless you know where it is, which is counter-intuitive SP Fusion is a data centric system which captures objects and the many relationships between them for intuitive navigation, such as between Equipment and the many Documents it is contained on.
