The mission of the Veterans Health Alliance of Long Island is to: Promote the health and wellbeing of Long Island veterans and their families through advocacy, and a broad array of services. A wide range of services and supports are available to veterans from all generations. Veterans may seek services from the VA in Northport, as well as from providers in their local community. Some services are free. Others may be covered by private insurance, TRICARE, government benefits, or other forms of payment. VA MEDICAL CENTER (Northport) The VA in Northport offers a wide range of health, mental health, dental, rehabilitation, employment, substance abuse, pharmacy, aging and women s services. Veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) have a five year window of eligibility to register. (Islandia) (631) or (631) Equine Assisted Psychotherapy helps people to develop healthy relationships through a collaborative effort between a licensed therapist and a horse professional. Equine Psychotherapy program is open to any veteran and their family members. Sliding scale payment option available. AGENT ORANGE EXPOSURE: AGENT ORANGE REGISTRY (VA, Northport) (631) ext or 2659 Vietnam Veterans exposed to Agent Orange between 1962 and 1971 may develop medical conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes, Prostrate Cancer, Lung Cancer and other illnesses. These veterans are entitled to a free medical screening. Those found to have a service connected illness are entitled to prompt medical care and monthly tax-free compensation.
