2 RATINGS BOOK GLOSSARY Winding configurations and winding numbers 6 Wire Reconnectable Windings such as,, 07 and 6 have 6 exit leads brought into the terminal box, and hence may only be configured for series star and series delta connections. Star Ph 4W Output Terminals (U.V.W.N.) Delta Ph 4W Output Terminals (U.V.W.) Delta Ph 4W Output Terminals (U.V.W.) BC, UC, & HC4 W ire Reconnectable W indings such as, 4, 7 and 5 have exit leads brought into the terminal box and hence may be configured for series star, series delta or parallel star. Series Star Ph 4W Output Terminals (U.V.W.N.) Parallel Star PH 4W Output Terminals (U.V.W.N.) Series Delta Ph 4W Output Terminals (U.V.W.N.) It is also possible to connect wire windings for single phase operation in the double delta configuration. Doub le Delta Ph W Output Terminals (U.W.N.) (BC/UC only) 4 Wire Dedicated Windings such as 05 and 06 are specifically designed for single phase operation, and cannot be re-connected for three phase supply.

3 Rating definitions All ratings are based on altitude up to 000 m etres above sea level. BASE CONTINUOUS RATING Also known as BASIC CON TINUOUS - BR (ISO 858-) or C ontinuous R unning Duty - Duty type S (EN 6004-, IEC4- AND BS4999 part 0) or Continuous Duty (NEMA MG-). As the title suggests the generator is capable of supporting the specified kva rating at the specified ambient and power factor for continuous use without over stressing the insulation system. PEAK STANDBY RATING (40 C ambient temperature) This rating is defined in ISO 858- as PEAK C ONTIN UOUS PR it equates to S0 (rating with discrete constant loads) in EN6004- and STANDBY RATING in N EMA MG-. H ere the class H temperature rise is allow ed to increase above the BASE continuous rating. The result is an increased rating at the expense of reducing the lifetime of the generator by between to 6 tim es. Peak standby continuous rating offers an economical sizing for em ergency back up power supplie s. PEAK STANDBY RATING (7 C ambient temperature) EN states that with the customer s prior agreem ent an increase in rating m ay be made to account for a decrease in ambient temperature. The ratings quoted at 7 C ambient allow for an increased temperature rise to bring the operating tem perature of the generator to the sam e level as seen at 40 C am bient as above.
