3 At the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), employees are key partners in fulfilling the organization's goal of enhancing and protecting the Denver region's quality of life. DRCOG's comprehensive benefits package shows its commitment to employees and their families. Who Receives Benefits? Full-time employees are eligible for: credit union membership; 457 deferred compensation; Roth IRA; 401(a) retirement; dental, health, and vision insurance; flexible spending account; life and accidental death and dismemberment, short-term disability, long-term disability, voluntary life insurance, auto and homeowner's, Group Universal Life, Group Accident insurance and pet insurance; employee assistance program; tuition reimbursement; direct deposit; pre-tax parking; workers' compensation; Eco Pass and Guaranteed Ride Home Program; and 1290 Fitness Center membership. 1
4 Part-time employees who normally work an average of 24 hours in a week (please see Human Resources for more information) are eligible for: health, dental and vision insurance, subject to payment by employee; auto and homeowner's and pet insurance; employee assistance program; credit union membership; 457 deferred compensation; Roth IRA; direct deposit; pre-tax parking; workers' compensation; and 1290 Fitness Center membership. Temporary employees are eligible for: direct deposit; pet, auto and homeowner's insurance; credit union membership; workers' compensation; and 1290 Fitness Center membership. Key DRCOG Benefits Leave Benefits -- Eligible upon employment Employees receive 10.5 hours of general leave each month. Leave hours increase over time to a maximum of 16.5 hours accumulated monthly. Employees also accrue sick leave at a rate of six hours each month (nine days annually). DRCOG employees also receive 10.5 paid holidays each year. Paid Holidays New Year's Day Martin Luther King Day Presidents' Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving Day after Thanksgiving Christmas Eve ( afternoon) ½ day Christmas Day Floating Day (designated by the Executive Director) 2
5 Retirement Benefits -- Eligible 1st day of month following six months of employment DRCOG's 401(a) Vesting Schedule retirement plan is mandatory for Incremental vesting full-time begins after three employees on years of employment the 1st of the and full vesting occurs month after six months of at seven years. employment. Through the plan, DRCOG contributes 9 percent of an employee's monthly salary, while the employee contributes 3 percent. The employee must be vested to receive DRCOG's contributions. Medical Coverage -- Eligible 1st day of employment DRCOG provides comprehensive health insurance options for employees to meet their individual and family needs. The HMO plan provides in-network medical and prescription drug coverage with copayments and is a lower premium cost to you. The PPO has a higher premium cost to you, but is designed to allow in- and outof-network services and requires you to the meet the deductible before major services are paid by the insurance company. DRCOG pays 85 percent of the premium. Dental Coverage -- Eligible 1st day of the month after employment Employees may enroll in DRCOG's MetLife plan, choosing from two PPO plans. DRCOG pays 80 percent of the premium. 3
6 Vision Coverage -- Eligible 1st day of the month after employment DRCOG offers vision coverage to help you pay for your routine vision services and vision supplies. You can see any vision provider you choose, but you will enjoy significant savings when you use network vision providers. DRCOG pays 100 percent for employee only. Employee Assistance Program -- Eligible upon employment The Employee Assistance Program is available to all employees and their eligible dependents. DRCOG pays 100 percent of the premium for this confidential and wide-ranging counseling program. Employer-paid Life Insurance -- Eligible 1st day of the month after employment DRCOG provides basic life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance equal to two times annual salary. Employer-paid Long-Term Disability (LTD) -- Eligible 1st day of the month after employment DRCOG provides a long-term disability benefit. If you are unable to perform your job for a continuous 180-day period due to illness or injury, your LTD benefit will take effect. Your income replacement benefit would equal percent of your basic monthly earnings, up to a maximum of $6,000. Benefits may be subject to pre-existing condition limitations. 4
7 Employer-paid Short-Term Disability (STD) -- Eligible 1st day of the month after employment DRCOG provides a short-term disability benefit that replaces a portion of your weekly income should you be unable to perform your job due to an illness or injury unrelated to your work. As long as you remain disabled and meet the plan's disability requirements, you will continue to receive 60 percent of your basic weekly earnings up to a weekly maximum benefit of $1,200 up to 22 weeks. Benefits may be subject to pre-existing condition limitations. Supplemental Voluntary Life Insurance -- Eligible upon employment Supplemental voluntary life insurance or employees and their families is available through payroll deduction Fitness Center -- Eligible upon employment All DRCOG employees can use the 1290 Fitness Center, conveniently located in our building. The center has workout equipment, showers and lockers. 5
8 Flexible Spending Accounts -- Eligible 1st day of employment DRCOG offers two types of flexible spending accounts: medical and dependent care. Through each account, employees can redirect a set amount of their earnings to pay for applicable expenses with pre-tax dollars. Tuition Reimbursement -- Eligible after six months of employment DRCOG employees enrolled in academic courses related to their work may receive tuition loans for continuing education. The loans are then forgiven progressively with continued employment and proof of passing grades. Eco Pass -- Eligible upon employment DRCOG offers each of its full-time employees an Eco Pass that provides unlimited use of RTD's bus and light rail service. Guaranteed Ride Home Program -- Eligible upon employment Through this unique program, the employee can receive a free taxi ride from work to home for an emergency or unplanned work schedule change if he/she used transit or any other transportation option that day. Bike Parking -- Eligible upon employment For employees who bike to work, DRCOG provides locked bicycle parking and lockers conveniently located in its building. 6

10 More About DRCOG DRCOG has an extensive training and professional development program for its employees. Employees are strongly encouraged and provided time to take the training classes they need to update their skills and reenergize themselves. DRCOG has an active group that plans employee gatherings and get-togethers, including an annual picnic for employees and their families. DRCOG's downtown location offers employees convenient access to transit routes, and pedestrian and bike paths. In addition, the office is located nearby the Denver Art Museum, the Denver Public Library and the Colorado History Museum Broadway is just blocks from the Capitol, Denver's 16th Street Mall, and a host of restaurants and other venues. With its focus on the future and the region's quality of life, DRCOG is environmentally aware, and reduces, reuses and recycles. The office is located in a LEEDcertified building. 8
