5 Glossary Index of Multiple Deprivation, 2010 The ID2010 is made up of 38 indicators which are grouped into seven domains each of which reflects a different aspect of deprivation. The seven domains are combined to produce an overall Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) score. Source: Department of Communities & Local; Government (DCLG) Benefits Claimants, Worklessness, Lone Parents on Income Support This section looks at people who are claiming DWP benefits. Claimant rates are calculated as a proportion of the age group eligible to claim each individual benefit Income Support - can be claimed by those Jobseekers Allowance - can be claimed by people of working age (females 16-59, males 16-64) Incapacity Benefit or Employment and Support Allowance - can be claimed by people of working age (females 16-59, males 16-64) Pension Credit - can be claimed by those 60+ State Pension - can be claimed by those of pensionable age (females 60+, males 65+) Note: State Pension Age is due to increase for for women to age 65 by 2018 and then to age 66 for both men and women by 2020 In addition to the individual benefit counts claimants can be grouped into statistical groupings. One of the possible groupings of benefits claimants which is used by Kent County Council is the out of work benefits group. This group includes people claiming Jobseekers Allowance, loneparents claiming Income Support, Incapacity Benefits claimants and others on income related benefits with the exception of carers, and is used as an indicator of worklessness.
