2 Nokia Solutions and Networks is extending its small cells offering to bring operators maximum benefit from combining small cells with the macro network, allowing them to meet the challenge of increased demand for mobile broadband. As mobile broadband demand continues to grow dramatically, operators will need to increase capacity significantly by adding small cells to complement their macro networks, forming heterogeneous networks, or HetNets. To support the rapid evolution of these HetNets, Nokia Solutions and Networks already offers an end-to-end portfolio of products and services across both macro and small cells solutions that delivers the optimum mix of capabilities for the best return on investment for operators. Now, Nokia Solutions and Networks is extending its small cells solutions to provide operators with a complete package of products and services, helping them to combine macro and different small cells, including ever-present Wi-Fi, to provide the best coverage and capacity in all locations. The extensions include the launch of: An end-to-end Smart Wi-Fi solution that makes it easy to integrate this ubiquitous access technology with the cellular network An expanded Flexi Zone product range for hotspots with new Micro and Pico Access points that can be operated stand-alone and then evolved into a full Flexi Zone architecture to support larger/denser hotzones Two new Enterprise and Public indoor Femto cells to support HSPA+ and LTE, both featuring plug-and-play deployment and provisioning, enabling a rapid ramp-up of new services An enhanced Services for HetNet offering that now offers new ways to analyze how traffic patterns affect the customer experience. 3 Smart Wi-Fi combines the best of cellular and Wi-Fi By integrating Wi-Fi with the cellular network, and providing a cellularlike experience over Wi-Fi, operators can deliver additional value to the subscriber, to reduce churn, support revenue or enhance margin. The benefits include a superior user experience, combining the strengths of both technologies and both networks, the flexibility to select the most appropriate layer to deliver traffic and security, usability and convenience. Smart Wi-Fi consists of four modules, each of which tackles one aspect of introducing Wi-Fi as a seamless extension to the operator s cellular network. Smart Wi-Fi Connect provides an operator with analysis, forecast and capacity expansion planning services for urban congestion. Where Wi-Fi is the recommended option, Nokia Solutions and Networks re-sells the top-rated Ruckus Wireless Wi-Fi Access Points and Gateways. Smart Wi-Fi Converge helps the operator integrate Wi-Fi with their 3GPP network and provision terminals for operator controlled, automated Wi-Fi access. Smart Wi-Fi Optimize introduces Wi-Fi traffic steering capabilities that give operators control over traffic and the customer experience. Operators gain the insight and capability to steer traffic between Wi-Fi and cellular directing subscribers onto the most suitable network layer. Smart Wi-Fi Personalize allows operators to target selected users for Wi-Fi access. Smart Wi-Fi Personalize includes the recently introduced CEM on Demand for Wi-Fi, which allows them to target specific users or groups of users for Wi-Fi access as part of campaigns Once a user has received and accepted the appropriate Wi- Fi settings, the operator takes responsibility for finding and connecting the terminal automatically to suitable secure Wi-Fi networks, providing an optimal user experience according to subscription terms and conditions. 4 New Femtocell Access Point achieve rapid service ramp up Nokia Solutions and Networks offers a portfolio of residential and enterprise Femtocell Access Points (FAPs). Complementing our femtocell solution, they accelerate femtocell service launches. Two new enterprise and public space Femtocell Access Points feature plug-and-play deployment and provisioning, enabling a rapid ramp-up of new services, tapping into new revenue streams, and capitalizing on value-added enterprise services. The FAPe-hsp 5620 femtocell for HSPA+ offers high output power for large coverage, while the FAPe-lte 7610 for LTE enables operators to add capacity to hotspot locations and with future support for applications such as Circuit Switched Fallback (CSFB) and Voice over LTE (VoLTE) enabled through a software download. Part of an end-toend femtocell solution, the FAP connects to the Nokia Solutions and Networks Femtocell Gateway using a user s broadband connection, such as a DSL or cable connection. With far less overhead for power supply, backhaul links and site acquisition, femtocells drive down total cost of ownership. Enterprises experiencing mobile service performance issues can enjoy mobile voice call quality, fewer dropped calls, faster data connections and improved in-building voice and data services. They will also get more bandwidth, helping employees to use their mobile connectivity to support their work. Flexi Zone cells help operators support the need for hot spot and hot zone capacity In early 2012, Nokia Solutions and Networks launched Flexi Zone, which enables an operator to build almost unlimited capacity by deploying clusters of access points across a hot zone. Since then the solution has been recognized as one of the most innovative small cell capacity solutions and has won significant industry awards. Flexi Zone s new LTE and Wi-Fi Micro/Pico cells give operators the ability to deploy small cells to meet today s hot spot capacity requirement while giving them a basis to grow hot spots into hot zones saving CAPEX and OPEX. This saving is in addition to Flexi Zone s ability to add capacity at 50% of the TCO compared to traditional small cells or macrocellular site splitting. Page 4

5 Flexi Zone s architecture and innovation provides a means to boost the subscriber experience by ten times in a hot spot/hot zone environment and lowering significantly the cost of delivering mobile broadband in busy urban areas. Services for HetNets match traffic with user experience Services for HetNets are the industry s most comprehensive portfolio of expert services for HetNets, encompassing the analysis, optimization and deployment of HetNets. Deploying small cells and WiFi solutions where needed the most. The solution analyzes an operator s target urban area (indoor and outdoor) to identify specific coverage and capacity needs. Services for HetNets has now been extended with the ability to correlate dense traffic to customer experience using quality indicators for accessibility, retainability and time to content using Customer Experience Management (CEM) customer quality insight. This allows operators to focus on urban congestion areas that are most felt by the end user, so revenue can be boosted in those high value areas and priorities can be set. Also, traffic hotspots are correlated to Service Quality indicators such as highest % of accessibility (can I get on the network) failures and the highest % of retainability (can I keep the connection) to show failures including how many end users are affected. When experience issues caused by priority hotspots are identified, devices and applications are checked for an accurate capacity forecast and upgrade plan (as different applications impact the radio resources in different ways). The second innovation in Services for HetNets is a new backhaul planning and design strategy to tackle congestion in urban areas. Some 35% of operators deploying small cells are concerned about backhaul. By combining radio and backhaul in one plan we can ensure no quality degradation when small cells are planned because we make sure the transport can cope with the required capacity. In the analysis we also look at backhaul restrictions based on the required capacity of the small cells and macros the best transport upgrade is planned, taking existing resources into consideration. The new services help operators to analyze the most congested urban areas in HetNets, the impact of that traffic density, where their most valuable customers are using services, and the backhaul s capability to cope with demand, enabling them to prioritize action to ensure a good customer experience in the most valuable areas to help generate the highest revenue. 6 Thanks to the analysis based on end user demand, 20% cost savings can be achieved compared to blanketing the area with small cells. In addition, end users are less likely to churn as they will experience better network quality. With this approach, 21% more end users can access the highest data speeds. End users no longer need suffer accessibility, retainability and throughput issues as congestion in urban areas is solved. Page 6
