6 Pascale Institute t The National Cancer Institute "Fondazione Pascale" is the largest Institute for Research, Hospitalization and Health Care (IRCCS) in Oncology of the South and Centre of Reference for national and regional cancer network. The Institute pursues research mainly clinical, and applied research in the biomedical field and in the organization and management of health services. The Institute's s mission is to achieve excellence in oncology and the identification of new and suitable guidelines on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer through clinical research and technological l innovationi and management, moving the centrality of the disease to the patient.

The Institute pursues research mainly clinical, and applied research in the biomedical field and in the organization and management of health services.

16 THE FUTURE CENTER OF BIOTECHNOLOGIES PAD.X The new Center of Biotehnologies is located inside the A. Cardarelli Hospital on an area of 2500 m2. Its realization will finish within the end of 2012 The Center will develop on 3 floors with different sections: - Area of research - Operating Theatre - Laboratories Management BUSINESS INCUBATOR 6-10 companies to be incubated will operate in fields strictly connected to the industrial biotechnology area: - Pharmaceutical - Chemical - Bioinformatics - Biomedical - Instrumentation fabrication - Development and production of biomaterials and clinical surgical devices
