2 ELC Last week s Thanksgiving celebration was a big success. Each class prepared costumes and a Thanksgiving cheer / song which they performed for the school. We did the turkey hokey pokey and the turkey tango together as we gobbled like turkeys. We then enjoyed a special corny snack. A great time was had by all!

4 ELC Chanukah smells and songs have been filling our school. The children have been hard at work decorating their classrooms for the upcoming Chag. We began practicing for our upcoming Chanukah event and are so excited to invite our parents to our school! 5 Grades 1-3 Our students in grades 1-3 will be going to the Jewish children s museum next week. They are looking forward to viewing the special Chanukah exhibits. Kindly note the following schedule: Tuesday, December 9 Grades 1 and 2 9:15-1:00 Thursday, December 11 Grade 3 9:15-1:00 The children will be eating lunch at the museum, and we are requesting that you send in your child s lunch that day in a paper bag, with all disposable items. Those students, who order lunches from school, will receive them to take home. If you are available for chaperoning, please fill out the bottom portion of the letter that was sent home.

6 4C Did you ever wonder what is better than chocolate? Well, it s chocolate turkeys, of course. The students in class 4C decided to incorporate ideas from the last novel that they read with their Thanksgiving celebration. They recently finished reading the novel, Chocolate Fever, by Robert Kimmel Smith, which was about a boy who loved chocolate. The class decided to make turkeys out of chocolate. They dipped apples in chocolate to create the turkey bodies and then used other chocolates and marshmallows to adorn the turkey. This activity was a creative and enjoyable experience for the class.

7 Our 4th and 5th grades and 6-8th grade girls had so much participating in the fun filled game that 8G11 girls prepared for Rosh Chodesh Kislev. Thank you to Morah Fried for helping the girls prepare and orchestrate the activity.

8 Mazal Tov to Rabbi Daum and his 7th grade boys and girls classes for completing Parshat Chukat. Thank you to the parents who sent in treats for their respective Siyumim.

9 Gentleman, start your engines! The eighth grade engineering program is well under way, with engines roaring to go! Students used their knowledge of engineering to design the fastest car they could. They maneuvered their way around Lego motors, gears, wheels and axles. The class applied the concepts of gearing up, increasing speed and power to make their car zoom. We had a great time racing the cars up and down the hallway, and hope to improve on our designs in the future. 8th Grade

10 . The 8th grade girls enjoyed a post BJE Siyum party with their teachers. Thank you to Morah Fried and Morah Gold for preparing the girls for the test and for treating them to the delicious pizza party.

11 Teacher Chanukah Gifts With Chanukah just around the corner, the PTA is collecting teacher Chanukah gifts. It is an opportunity for us to show our appreciation to the teachers and faculty who take care of our students with care and tenderness. We are collecting $20.00 per child. In order to ensure that your child s name appears properly on the list, it is very important that you fill out the sheet that you received in the mail and return it with your gift contribution. Deadline for the teacher gifts is December 10. Thank you very much!

12 Our annual Chanukah Ohel Drive is well underway. If you are interested in participating, please bring to the ELC or the Main Center gifts for children and adults, such as, board games, seforim, gift cards, electronic games, and puzzles. Please make sure the gifts are unopened and unwrapped. We encourage you to involve your children in this most important Mitzvah. Donate a new gift today and help light up the life of a child or adult. The deadline for the gift drive is December 10.

13 PTA PTA Our annual PTA Book Fair will take place next week during school hours and at our PTA conference night, in the Main Center. Kindly note the following schedules: Monday, December 8 9:00am-4:30pm 6:00pm-10:00pm Tuesday, December 9 Wednesday, December 10 9:00am-4:30pm 9:00am- 4:30pm ELC parents may bring their children after school to look at our selection of books. 14 Chanukah Gift Sale Our annual PTA Chanukah Gift Sale will take place on: Monday, December 15, 9:00am-4:40pm at the Main Center Tuesday, December 16, 9:30am-3:00pm at the ELC. The PTA has ordered a beautiful array of gifts that we are sure your children and family will enjoy. Our PTA is looking for volunteers to help at the Chanukah sales.
