1 A new and improved Revenue Online facility is here. Scheduled to go live on 16 February 2013, the new Online Pay-roll Tax system features significant improvements, streamlined processes and a clean and contemporary look. This new-look system supports our ongoing commitment to improving online services and information for our clients. Revenue Online Revenue Online (ROL) is an electronic lodgment and payment system that allows you to better meet your pay-roll tax obligations. The use of ROL is mandatory for all registered pay-roll tax clients who have a grouped annual pay-roll tax liability greater than $100,000. ROL assists you to meet those obligations by providing: an alternative payment process; an up to date and accurate information source; and the convenience of electronic communication. What are the benefits of using Revenue Online? Increased efficiency In-house processing reduces turnaround time Returns can be accurately assessed and paid online notifications that assist you to meet your obligations to lodge and pay returns and/or to pay instalment notices Assessment advices and instalment notices may be viewed online and saved as a PDF file. You will have a statement of your pay-roll tax related financial transactions Ability to view your account history and balances Ability to view account transaction details Ability to amend wage details (except where the financial year has been reconciled) Ability to update contact details and advise of changes to your registration Ability to easily view current fact sheets and publications
2 Administrative costs are reduced No need to send staff to lodge and pay returns at the Office of State Revenue No need to write cheques Postage and courier costs are eliminated The possibility of a mismatch between the return and the payment is eliminated The risks of postage delays and manual processing errors can be avoided No up front or ongoing costs Client control Only the customer can authorise payments from their financial institution accounts A detailed history of every transaction is kept in one place for audit purposes Multi-tiered access allows the ROL Administrator to grant lodgment and payment permissions to other staff. The new system will allow up to three administrators as well as numerous general users.
3 Multiple browser support Revenue Online (ROL) is compatible with contemporary browsers and operating systems including Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari and Internet Explorer (version 7 or higher is recommended for optimum experience). Real-time processing With the move to real-time processing, ROL transactions are processed instantaneously. Pay Later Option 1 The new ROL system features the ability to make payments either immediately or at a later date. The pay later option allows users to schedule payments to be deducted from their nominated bank account on a future date. Ability to cancel pending payments 1 Users are able to cancel a payment, providing it has not already been debited from the nominated bank account. Such payments will be displayed as pending on the client profile page. Multi-tiered access ROL allows clients to appoint specified users to perform separate and distinct roles. The new system allows up to three administrators as well as numerous general users. An administrator is able to add other general users to their ROL account with user specific permissions. This is useful where a client has one person who lodges returns and another who makes payments, for example. A general user s access may be customised to perform functions including: lodgment and modification of returns payments by obtaining a BPay or EFT reference or paying via Customer Initiated Payment Account (Direct Debit) viewing and printing assessment advices viewing and printing instalment advices viewing and printing returns 1 Please note that these features are only available for payments made via a Customer Initiated Payment Account (Direct Debit). However you can also future date a BPay or EFT payment via your financial institution s website.
4 Able to view & print assessment advices Assessment advices are viewable in PDF format. Users are able to save a copy to their computer or print a hard copy for their records. Stronger Password Requirements To ensure maximum security the minimum password requirements have now been strengthened. Passwords must now be between 8-20 characters in length, must contain a combination of upper and lower case alpha characters and at least one numeric or special character. Additional instalment details are now available Current and past instalment notices can be viewed. There is also the functionality to calculate final payout amounts and make payments. Details of the instalment plan including the repayment schedule are also available. Threshold details more noticeable Details relating to the threshold amount are now more noticeable and can be viewed whilst lodging a return or via the assessment advice. Broadcast Messaging General notifications and information appear on the ROL homepage. Once you have logged into ROL you will be able to view messages specific to your account. Recommended Resolutions ROL is optimised for a screen resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels or higher. This also includes resolutions and aspect ratios supported by wide screen monitors. While lower resolutions will operate successfully they are not recommended for the best viewing experience. Online Help, FAQ s and Contact Details Help and Contact Us links are available in the bottom right hand corner of ROL screens. You can change your contact details by clicking on the My Details link in the top right hand corner of ROL screens.
5 New look & feel The new ROL system is designed to help you find information and access common functions easily and quickly. ROL account administration and pay-roll tax functions are displayed on the landing page, making it easier to navigate through the system with fewer clicks. To log in to the new ROL, go to This will take you directly to the new ROL homepage shown below. If you attempt to log into ROL from 16 February 2013 via the previous ROL homepage, you will be re-directed to the new ROL homepage once you have logged in. You will then need to log in again to access the authenticated landing page.
6 Once you have logged into the new ROL, you will access this new authenticated landing page where you can commence using the enhanced ROL. Instructional Videos Available The Office of State Revenue has produced eight short videos covering the major enhancements. These will help users to understand the changes and utilise the new system effectively. The videos will be available from 18 February 2013 on our YouTube channel at the following address: How do I activate my Revenue Online account for the first time? Existing ROL clients will automatically be registered for the new system. If you are a pay-roll tax client and have not used ROL before, you will need to activate your ROL account. Please contact the Office of State Revenue and we will provide assistance with this. Upon first logging on, you will be prompted to change your password. If you are not currently registered for pay-roll tax, please register by visiting the Forms and Publications and select the Application for Registration as an Employer link.
