Infra FINBIM If we want vision realized infra owners (clients) have an important role There are eight large infra owners in Infra FINBIM. Finnish transport Agency is largest one. Other is seven are big cities: Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Lahti, Oulu, Turku, Tampere Clients and also large owners in civil engineering sector are mostly public. Public client means that there are some limits to the development and procurement Regulations Procurement Archive Legal equality Market situations But it also help to implement infra BIM cause it force everybody to play whit open cards It also force to develop open standards and requirements like guidelines Tiina Perttula 8
InfraFINBIM Main contents Experiences from case projects Developing BIM-based processes for design and construction Developing procurement Developing general guidelines for BIM Developing LandXML-based InfraModel 3 requirements for data transfer Several case projects from different field and different phase Feedback and knowledge from pilot projects lay the foundation for guidelines Also guidelines feasibility were tested in other pilot projects It made possible to improve guidelines during infra FINBIM project Tiina Perttula 9
6 1 2 Main focus in Infra FINBIM: 1. Initial Data 2. Design 3. Construction Some case studies: 4. Quality control 5. Maintenance Not focused: 6. Monitoring Tiina Perttula 10

Data bank All data from pilot projects is collected in data bank Purpose is that data can be use after Infra FINBIM in different situations Education Research Sharing knowledge Tiina Perttula 32
Data Bank Tiina Perttula 33
Business Processes Guidelines, skill requirements Information needs Efficiency Information, knowledege Actors (human) Technologies (ICT / BIM) Tiina Perttula 34
Actors There is no point to use new technology in old way Innovations like BIM cannot standardized It need a lot of learning in every level Challenge is although large There is nothing ready to teach in some cases and the result isn t always predetermined Tiina Perttula 35
Education EHI (Education Hub for InfraBIM) was founded when the PRE-program was running Results of the study indicate that infrastructure sector transition to the BIM based environment cannot be expressed without development of education sector. It is clear that university level education needs to develop parallel with the InfraBIM introduction and close industry collaboration is required. With close industry collaboration and EHI method implementation, a new InfraBIM apprenticeship education is developed Start in January 2014 for professionals in Helsinki, Tampere and Oulu. The InfraBIM education is implemented with participation of five biggest construction education universities in Finland Tiina Perttula 36
What next (in year 2014) Take inframodel 3 in use Development of model based procurement Require initial data model in every projects Require also use of BIM in all design phaces Start discusion together with other public authorities about the data Who owns the data Who is responsible to upkeep the data How to share data using open standars Tiina Perttula 37
Development needs Education, know-how Improve communications Dissemination is needed Register Archives Ownership of data Development of standards Tiina Perttula 38
