7 DIESEL AIR FILTERS AND AIR INTAKE SYSTEMS Diesels engines create higher compression ratios and require tighter tolerances; that s why we build diesel air filters to even higher specifications. Our diesel air filters typically use deeper pleats in larger sizes to increase surface area for more capacity and airflow. They contain more cotton in different grades and configurations to achieve higher levels of efficiency. HEAVY DUTY DIESEL WASHABLE AIR FILTERS The power, durability and design of turbo diesel engines create unique air filtration demands. K&N has developed a new line of washable heavy duty air filters using our oil-free synthetic filtration medium. These depth loading air filters deliver very high filtration efficiency, large dust holding capacity and high airflow, making them perfect for large turbo diesel class 4-8 over-the-road trucks, agriculture and earth moving equipment. K&N diesel air filters are made with more layers of cotton filter media than our standard OE replacement air filters. Easy to clean - uses no oil These filters are incredibly easy to clean and nearly indestructible. After you apply our special degreaser, you can use pressure washers, compressed air, or water hose nozzles to clean the dirt and grime out of the filter. 8 HIGH-FLOW COTTON AIR FILTER CLEANING APPLY CLEANER: Liberally spray K&N Air Filter Cleaner onto both sides of filter and allow to soak for 10 minutes to loosen the dirt. Do not allow cleaner to dry on air filter. RINSE FILTER: Rinse off air filter with cool low-pressure water from the clean side out in order to flush the dirt out of the filter. Continue to rinse the filter until all traces of cleaner are gone. It may be necessary to repeat steps 1 and 2. DRY FILTER: After rinsing, gently shake off excess water and allow air filter to dry naturally. Do not oil until the filter is dry. OIL FILTER: SQUEEZE OIL ( ): Apply K&N Air Filter Oil evenly along the crown of each filter pleat. Allow oil to wick for approximately 20 minutes. Touch up any light areas on either side of the filter until there is a uniform red color on all areas. AEROSOL OIL ( ): Spray K&N Air Filter Oil evenly along the crown of each filter pleat holding nozzle about 3 away. Allow oil to wick for approximately 20 minutes. Touch up any light areas on either side of the filter until there is a uniform red color on all areas. CABIN AIR FILTER CLEANING APPLY CLEANER: Spray a generous amount of K&N s specially formulated cabin air filter cleaner onto both sides of the filter. Allow the cleaner to soak in for 10 minutes. Do not allow the cleaner to dry on the cabin air filter. RINSE FILTER: Rinse off air filter with cool low-pressure water from the clean side out in order to flush the dirt out of the filter. Continue to rinse the filter until the water flowing through the media is completely clear of dirt and debris. It may be necessary to repeat steps 1 and 2. DRY FILTER: After rinsing, gently shake off excess water and allow air filter to dry naturally for minutes. REFRESHING: Apply K&N cabin air filter Refresher onto the cabin air filter element. Apply liberally, so that the entire area of the cabin air filter media is treated. The above processes are the only approved procedures for maintaining your K&N cotton air filter. Visit knfilters.com for additional information on filter cleaning and examples of a dirty filter needing to be serviced. 12 ENGINE PROTECTION LIMITED WARRANTY Unlike many companies, our warranty for O/E replacement air filters and intake systems does extend beyond the replacement of a defective K&N part. For the original purchaser of the product, our warranty covers any engine damage or related costs incurred as a direct result of the use of a properly installed and maintained K&N O/E replacement air filter or intake system on the specific vehicle for which the product was designed to be used by K&N. This includes reasonable vehicle repair costs, sensor replacements, car rental fees or other incidental expenses directly related to an engine problem caused by the failure of a K&N product. Furthermore, we warrant that using our product will not result in a vehicle warranty denial. K&N will not be responsible for any indirect, consequential, special, contingent, or other damages not listed above. We will promptly reimburse the consumer for the cost of the repair if a service provider denies warranty coverage as a result of a K&N product or claims that a K&N product has caused harm to your engine or vehicle. In order to receive reimbursement, we require each of the following: 1. The consumer must provide a written statement or repair order from the dealership or service provider in which the dealership or service provider blames the problem or warranty denial on a K&N product; 2. The service provider or consumer must provide K&N with all allegedly damaged parts. Many states have laws that require a service provider to retain all parts replaced during a vehicle repair, unless given consent to dispose of the parts by the consumer. K&N will pay the shipping cost to recover these parts; and 3. The consumer must provide proof of purchase of the K&N product along with cooperation in helping us investigate the claim. Once these steps have been completed, K&N will contact the service provider and collect evidence to support their claim. In the event we are not provided with sufficient evidence, we reserve the right to reject the claim and will use our best efforts to assist in establishing your rights toward the service provider under warranty or other provisions. CONSUMER PROTECTION PLEDGE We want to make sure that when you buy a K&N air filter or air intake system, you can be confident your vehicle s warranty will not be impacted. We also want you to feel confident that even if you experience difficulties with a dealership repair department, we will step-in and resolve the issue, so you won t have to. Therefore, we make the following pledge: K&N pledges to our customers that they will not be taken advantage of and charged for a repair due to a manufacturer warranty denial blamed on the presence of a K&N product.
