Use the SMART Goals Tool to write 2 goals. 4. Complete the Goal Setting Template one for each goal by October Introduce the RE to the faculty and key people of the building. Encourage the RE to obtain and read the faculty handbook. 6. Gather necessary materials; involve principal, department chairperson, team leader or others to locate, distribute, and discuss many of these items. - Course of Study, Lesson Plan books, forms for attendance and grades - Teachers' manuals, schedules, duty roster, seating charts - IEPs for students, forms, etc. - Crisis Intervention Plan 7. Discuss overview of curriculum: course of study/goals for each lesson. Include discussion on lesson plan format. 8. Review discipline and grading practices for consistency with school policies. 9. Discuss prayer (informal and formal) as part of the class on a regular basis. 10. Develop a first-day strategy. Talk about procedures for all aspects of classroom management. Discuss 2 samples of student work in terms of current goals. 3. Go back to the Data Measures Inventory for the Classroom. Discuss grouping patterns based on new information about students. 4. RE may consider a short informal observation of the mentor or exemplary teacher. Record date, class and subject in the Collaborative Log. 5. Consider ways to link student service projects with reflection and prayer. 6. Discuss how to cope with schedule changes; the Christmas climate; procedures for gift giving. 7. Prepare for the end of semester. Discuss the exam schedule. Develop semester tests if needed. 8. Reflect on the year thus far and consider student feedback. You might do a student survey. Examine the assessments together and strategize ways for improvement. 8. Discuss proficiency and standardized testing. 9. Discuss ways to combat fatigue and busy schedules.
