These full-time occupationally-oriented higher education studies are implemented mainly during daytime. Since higher education is funded by the state through the Ministry of Education, students enrolled in regular degree studies pay no tuition fees. Metropolia is located in Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa with good communications. The Helsinki region offers a wide selection of leisure activities libraries, museums, theatres and concerts and plenty of sports facilities. It takes years to graduate. Studies are measured in units called credit points, which are based on the amount of work put in. An average academic year consists of 1,600 hours of work, which is equivalent to 60 ECTS credits. The students engage in joint working life and business projects across degree programmes in the capital region. The advantage of being located in the capital region is the large number of training opportunities and jobs. Moreover, our partner institutions around the world offer valuable opportunities for international experiences through student exchange. Graduates will be experts in their fields, capable of entering the labour market in development, design and supervisor positions or as independent entrepreneurs. According to a nationwide image survey, EVTEK University of Applied Sciences and Helsinki Polytechnic Stadia are not only well known and attractive but also rate highly in terms of overall image.
