2 About this Guide This guide describes the setup for the Microsoft Internet Explorer Web browsers. When using any non-ie Web browser, the workflow setup, accounting integration, expense transaction import, data import, OLAP charts and calendar edit functionality is not supported in the Tenrox application. 3 Tenrox: Web Browser Configuration Tenrox is browser independent application that is used for day-to-day end-user, management and administration functions. The Tenrox application requires the use of a supported Internet Explorer (IE) version to access and use the following features: Workflow Designer Accounting and Microsoft Project integrations, as well as Excel data imports OLAP charting and printing of Microsoft reports (RDLC) Credit card transaction file imports Tenrox project planning (Gantt charting tool) Calendar edits Deprecated as of: Tenrox 2011 R3, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 support Tenrox. 4 Tenrox: Web Browser Configuration Verifying Client Workstation Web Browser Requirements To successfully run the Tenrox software, the client workstations require the software components listed in tables Client Workstation Web Browser Requirements and Client Workstation Components and Suggested Links. For more information, see Installing Supporting Software and Configuring the Microsoft Internet Explorer Web Browsers. Note: Users who do not use Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) reporting do not have to install any software components unless strict security controls disable the automatic installing of ActiveX controls required for printing and visualizing workflows. 6 Tenrox: Web Browser Configuration Installing Supporting Software The following information is provided in case additional resources are required to help with the setup of the Tenrox software: Installing the Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0 Installing the Office Web Components Installing Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services 9.0 OLE DB Installing Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services 10.0 OLE DB Installing MDAC 2.8 Note: The information is typically not required for the default installation of the Tenrox software. The information provided is solely for troubleshooting purposes or fine-tuning the configuration; for more information, please contact Tenrox Technical Support. Installing the Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0 The procedure describes the installation of the MSXML 6.0 software packages. To install the MSXML 6.0 software package: 1. Copy and paste the URL be21-27e85e1857b1&displaylang=en in your browser to display the Microsoft download page. 2. Under Files in this download, download the appropriate file. Software Package msxml6.msi msxml6_x64.msi msxml6_ia64.msi Hardware Configuration For workstation installations on 32-bit processors For workstation installations on 64-bit processors For workstation installations on 64-bit Itanium processors Installing the Office Web Components During the Tenrox software installation, the Office Web Components are automatically installed on the client workstations. The Office Web Components are required to view Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) reports. To allow users to view the OLAP reports, ensure the following: Tenrox host server (HostServerName) is added to each client workstation s Trusted Sites list; for more information, see Configuring the Microsoft Internet Explorer Web Browsers Office Web Components (OWC10.exe or OWC11.exe) installed on each client workstation Installing Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services 9.0 OLE DB Deprecated as of: Tenrox 2011 R3. The procedure describes the installation of the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services 9.0 OLE DB software packages. To install the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services 9.0 OLE DB software package: 1. To install the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services 10.0 OLE DB software package: 1. Copy and paste the URL in your browser to display the Microsoft download page. 2. Under Instructions, download the appropriate file.. Note: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services 10.0 OLE DB Provider requires Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0; for more information, see Installing the Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0. Software Package X86 Package (SQLServer2008_ASOLEDB10.m si)19490 KB X64 Package (SQLServer2008_ASOLEDB10.m si)43945 KB IA64 Package (SQLServer2008_ASOLEDB10.m si)50682 KB Hardware Configuration For workstation installations on 32-bit processors For workstation installations on 64-bit processors For workstation installations on 64-bit Titanium processors Installing MDAC 2.8 The Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8 is the minimum version required on client workstation to support OLAP report functionality. If the client workstation meets the minimum requirements, this procedure is not required. To verify the MDAC version installed on a specific workstation, locate the version information stored in the registry and the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DataAccess\FullInstallVer To verify the MDAC version stored in the registry: 1. Clicking Start>Run and then enter regedit in the Open box and click OK or click Start and then enter regedit in the Search programs and files box to display the Windows Registry icon. 2. Click the Registry Editor icon to display the Registry Editor. 3. In the navigation pane, drill down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DataAccess. 4. In the details pane, locate the FullInstallVer and Version and then verify each key s corresponding version information in the Data column. 5. From the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor Tenrox. All rights reserved. 7
8 Tenrox: Web Browser Configuration If MDAC version is earlier than version 2.8: 1. Copy and paste the URL in your browser to display the Microsoft download page. 2. Click the Continue button to validate that you are running a genuine Windows Operating System (OS). 3. Follow the instructions on the page to validate your operating system. 4. Click Download to download MDAC after your OS is validated. 5. Click Run to start the installation on this machine only or Save to copy the download on your local hard drive to install on multiple machines. 8
9 Configuring the Microsoft Internet Explorer Web Browsers Configuring the Microsoft Internet Explorer Web Browsers The Microsoft Internet Explorer Web browsers need to be properly configured to ensure that the Tenrox application runs successfully and also accept cookies. For more information, see the Web Browser Configuration guide. Note: The Tenrox application also supports non-ie Web browsers, such as Firefox, Chrome and Safari; however, there are no setup requirements for the non-ie browsers. When using non-ie Web browsers, the Workflow setup, Accounting integration, Expense transaction import, Data import, OLAP charts and Calendar pages of the Tenrox application cannot be accessed. Changing Microsoft Internet Explorer Settings To ensure that the correct information is received from the Tenrox Web server and a cached copy is not reloaded, the Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers need to be forced to check for the latest version of software from the Tenrox Web server. Note: This procedure is required only for Internet Explorer browsers. To change Microsoft Internet Explorer settings: 1. Launch Internet Explorer. 2. From the Tools menu, click Internet Options to open the Internet Options dialog box. 3. Click the General tab and then click Settings under Browsing history to open the Temporary Internet Files and History Settings dialog box. 4. Click Automatically to check for newer versions of stored Web pages and then click OK to return to the Internet Options dialog box. Note: By default, the option Every time I visit the webpage is selected in Internet Explorer Tenrox. All rights reserved. 9
10 Tenrox: Web Browser Configuration 5. Click the Security tab and then the Trusted sites icon. 6. Click the Sites button to open the Trusted sites dialog box. 7. Enter the URL of the Tenrox Web server in the Add this Website to the zone box and then click the Add button to include the URL to the Websites list. Note: If the Web server does not use a secure connection, ensure that the Require server verification ( for all sites in this zone check box is cleared. 8. Click Close to return to the Internet Options dialog box. 10
11 Configuring the Microsoft Internet Explorer Web Browsers 9. Click the Privacy tab and then set the slider to Low for the zone s security level. 10. Click OK to set the security level and then close Internet Explorer. 11. Relaunch Internet Explorer and then enter the complete URL to access the Tenrox application. Note: After connecting to the Tenrox Web server, the indicator Explorer browser s status bar. is displayed in the Internet Configuring Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 (SP2) Deprecated as of: Tenrox 2011 R3. The procedure describes the configuration of Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 using Service Pack (SP2). To configure Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 (SP2): 1. Launch Internet Explorer. 2. From the Tools menu, click Internet Options and then the Security tab. 3. Under Security level for this zone, click the Custom level button to open the Security Settings dialog box. 4. Under ActiveX controls and plug-ins, set the ActiveX controls as shown in the illustration IE Settings for Running and Downloading the ActiveX Controls. 5. Under Miscellaneous, select the Enable option for Access data sources across domain Tenrox. All rights reserved. 11
12 Tenrox: Web Browser Configuration 6. Under User Authentication, select the Automatic logon with current user name and password option for Logon. Note: The Internet Explorer options Access Data Sources Across Domain is enabled and the Automatic logon with current user name and password is selected so that users can run the OLAP reports. 7. Under Reset custom settings, select Medium-Low as the security level for the zone to accept cookies. 8. Click OK, and then Yes to accept the changes to the zone. 9. Under Select a Web content zone to specify its security settings, click the Trusted sites zone. 10. Click the Sites button to open the Trusted sites dialog box. 11. Enter the HostServerName in the Add this website to zone box, then click Add to ensure that it is added to Trusted sites in your browser security. Note: The HostServerName is the name of the Web server on which the Tenrox software is installed. The HostServerName in entered in the format: Clear the Require server verification ( for all sites in this zone check box if the Web server does not use a secure connection (HTTPS). 13. Click OK to return to Internet Options dialog box. 14. Click OK to save changes. Note: To support Analysis Services reporting in Tenrox, additional security options are set in Microsoft Internet Explorer; for more information, see Configuring Microsoft Internet Explorer for Analysis Services Reporting. Configuring Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 or 10.0 Available as of: Tenrox 2013 R1 Addition of support for Microsoft Internet Explorer bit The procedure describes the configuration of Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0, 8.0, 9.0. and To configure Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 or 10.0: 1. Launch Internet Explorer. 2. From the Tools menu, click Internet Options and then click the Security tab. 3. Under Select a zone to view or change security settings, click the Trusted sites zone. 4. Click the Sites button to open the Trusted sites dialog box. 5. Enter the HostServerName in the Add this website to zone box, then click Add to ensure that it is added to Trusted sites in your browser security. Note: The HostServerName is the name of the Web server on which the Tenrox software is installed. The HostServerName in entered in the format: 6. Clear the Require server verification ( for all sites in this zone check box if the Web server does not use a secure connection (HTTPS). 7. Click Close to return to Internet Options dialog box. 8. Reset the security settings for the Trusted sites zone to enable certain key Tenrox features. For more information, see the Basic Method and Advanced Method procedures. Basic Method 1. From the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options and then the Security tab. 2. Under Security level for this zone, click the Custom level button to open the Security Settings dialog box. 3. Under Miscellaneous, select the Enable option for Access data sources across domain. 12

From the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options and then the Security tab 2. Under Security level for this zone, click the Custom level button to open the Security Settings dialog box. 3. Under ActiveX controls and plug-ins, set the ActiveX controls as shown in the illustration IE Settings for Running and Downloading the ActiveX Controls. 4. Under Miscellaneous, select the Enable option for Access data sources across domain. 5. Under User Authentication, select the Automatic logon with current user name and password option for Logon. Note: The Internet Explorer options Access Data Sources Across Domain is enabled and the Automatic logon with current user name and password is selected to allow users to run the OLAP reports. 6. Click OK to return to Internet Options dialog box. 7. Click OK to save changes. Configuring Microsoft Internet Explorer for Analysis Services Reporting Available as of: Tenrox 2013 R1 Addition of support for Microsoft Internet Explorer bit The procedure describes the configuration of Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 and 10.0 to support Analysis Services reporting in Tenrox. To configure Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 or 10.0 for Analysis Services reporting support: 1. Launch Internet Explorer. 2. From the Tools menu, click Internet Options and then click the Security tab. 3. Under Select a zone to view or change security settings, click the Trusted sites zone. 4. Click the Sites button to open the Trusted sites dialog box. 5. Enter the HostServerName in the Add this website to zone box, then click Add to ensure that it is added to Trusted sites in your browser security. Note: The HostServerName is the name of the Web server on which the Tenrox software is installed. The HostServerName in entered in the format: 6. Clear the Require server verification ( for all sites in this zone check box. 7. Click Close to return to Internet Options dialog box. 8. Under Security level for this zone, click the Custom level button to open the Security Settings dialog box. 9.
