One of this feature must be ordered for each node requiring a tier 7 Protection Manager license. Provisioning Manager Provisioning Manager is an automated, policybased provisioning software for N series environments. The software is designed to automate manual and repetitive provisioning processes, increasing the productivity of administrators and improving the availability of data by ensuring that provisioned storage complies with data protection policies. At least one of the Operations Manager Core tier license features is prerequisite of each Provisioning Manager feature. An Operations Manager Core license must be ordered for each N series node to be managed by Provisioning Manager, since Operations Manager is the basis for the DFM Server software suite, including Provisioning Manager. Provisioning Manager provides a client license that works with a DFM Server and is designed to allow the use of the Provisioning Manager features for the N series machine for which they are ordered. One tier license feature must be ordered for each N series node to be managed. Groups of Provisioning Manager licenses (license sets) ordered for an N series machine may be applied to any licensed DFM Server (feature #8255). A Provisioning Manager license key consists of a license for one or more N series controllers ordered at the same time. License keys may be applied to any licensed DFM Server, and the license keys may be migrated between DFM Servers. Sets of Provisioning Manager licenses provided in a single license key may not be split up the entire set must be applied to a single DFM Server but may be migrated, as a whole, between licensed DFM Servers. Multiple sets of Provisioning Manager licenses may be applied to a single DFM server. When migrating a license key of ten Provisioning Manager licenses from one DFM Server to another, the target DFM Server must have a minimum of ten Operations Manager licenses of the appropriate tiers. If that DFM Server already has a license key for four Provisioning Manager tiers, it must have a minimum of fourteen Operations Manager licenses (to satisfy the requirements of the initial licenses, plus the ten additive licenses being migrated). A typical license migration scenario: Initial configuration: DFM Server 1 license keys DFM Server 2 license keys 1 Ops Mgr key: 5 tier 2, 4 tier 3 1 Ops Mgr key: 10 tier 2 1 Prov Mgr key: 5 tier 2 1 Prov Mgr key: 2 tier IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 26

New configuration: DFM Server 1 license keys DFM Server 2 license keys 1 Ops Mgr key: 5 tier 2, 4 tier 3 1 Ops Mgr key: 10 tier 2 1 Prov Mgr key: 4 tier 3 1 Prov Mgr key: 2 tier 2 1 Prov Mgr key: 5 tier 2 (migrated from DFM Server 1) Note that since DFM Server 2 does not include any tier 3 Operations Manager licenses, no tier 3 Provisioning Manager license keys may be migrated to that server. A Model A11 consists of one node; a Model A21 consists of two nodes. On the initial order, the number of the tier features ordered defines the number of managed nodes, and the N series machine types and models, for which the feature is authorized. That number may be increased via a subsequent (MES) order by ordering the incremental number of Provisioning Manager tier x license features. For example, if the number of nodes to be managed is to be increased by ten, the number of Provisioning Manager features, which must be ordered in the MES order is ten. Any combination of Provisioning Manager features may be include in the same MES order. Provisioning Manager requires DFM V3.7, or later.
