1 Workshop in Alexandria October 2011 Egyptian, Tunisian and Swedish youth in politics convening for a two days workshop in Alexandria October Background is a programme initiated by SwedAlex in the aftermath of the Egyptian revolution; to provide space for experience sharing between Egyptian and Swedish youth activists involved in politics and social development. The first meeting took place in Alexandria 7-8 April 2011 when 20 Egyptians met with 8 Swedes and share experiences from their political affiliations and organizations. The follow up, the 13-15th June, took place in Stockholm when 25 Egyptians met with politically active youth in Sweden and visited the Swedish parliament. In October the programme is broadened to include youth from Tunisia as well, The Tunisians and Egyptians have a lot to share and learn from each other. The Swedish youth representatives will also change to embrace representatives from minor parties currently represented in the Swedish parliament and one party that is still struggling to get there. The way forward? - Is there an added value in international political exchange, and if so, what does it consist of? - What are the possible issues for cooperatation and common strategies? - Capacity building measures and training needed for youth in politics?
