6 Advantages and disadvantages - - using a set-top-box save implementation on that specific box with its special features and restrictions long development cycle (download time, difficult debugging) Requires special know how for the developer box using a PC with the RI The development is standard compliant and interoperable short development cycle (easy debugging on standard PC with well known tools) There is no reason for an expensive developer box anymore available very early IRT/TB Dipl. This is also necessary when emulating them with the reference implementation. The standard must be implemented exactly without adding or removing functions. This know how flow into the Corrigenda and the Implementation Guidelines. The reference implementation allows the development of applications with an economical time and cost expense.
