Using our archives of original design drawings and fabric patterns ercol s skilled craftsmen will tailor new upholstery from the highest quality materials to bring your furniture back to life. So whether it s a fresh new look you are after, or just a return to the wonderfully comfortable sit of an ercol chair, this brochure will guide you through step by step the ercol recover ordering process. Over the past 90 years ercol has designed and sold over 200 different designs for chairs and upholstery, many of which are still lovingly used in people s homes across the world. This guide will help you identify which exact model you own, it will show the options available and allow you to order exactly what you need. 3 Using this brochure Steps to follow: New covers and interiors: By replacing your covers you will completely refresh both your furniture and your room. Since fitting new covers on to interiors can be difficult, ercol will supply new interiors with all cover orders and will not supply covers on their own. Spring bases and webbing: Many of our designs use either webbing or spring bases to provide support. Webbing straps should be replaced at the same time as your cushions in order to gain the full benefit from them. Please take care and follow the detailed descriptions by each item to ensure that you order the correct parts sometimes several options exist for a chair depending on when it was manufactured. In general spring bases do not require replacing, however occasionally we will supply a replacement unit to help aid the fitting of your new upholstery. Spring base units can be replaced as a special request. 1. Identify model number p Select required fabric. fabric brochure ercol has a range of over 100 fabrics from which to choose. Please either visit your local retailer or use ercol s fabric selection brochure. Alternatively visit our website which has an online fabric selection tool. There are three different fabric price grades listed p in this brochure, C, E, G and COC (Customer s Own Cover). Please call our helpline on if you would like to be sent a fabric sample or require further assistance. 3. Select where appropriate the type of interior and style of p seam finish you require. 4. Confirm the price of your choice of complete cushion set. p Select the required replacement webbings or spring bases p (if needed). 6. Complete the order form. p. 25

4 Webbing Useful information It is important to identify which webbing kit you need. Each kit will be supplied with a fitting tool. When several options are available: 1. count the total number of webs 2. measure web width 3. measure the slot to slot length* * to measure the slot length, select the third web in from either the left or right side of the chair and measure the distance from the front of the slot at the front to the back of the slot at the back. Some of the two and three seater models have extra long webs that lace backwards and forwards between the front and back slots in the middle of the settees. Foam & fibre interiors On some models there is a choice of foam and fibre or feather and fibre interiors. Foam and fibre will give a firmer support, whilst feather and fibre gives a luxuriously soft feel. Scatter cushions Each picture will show how many scatter cushions will be supplied with your furniture. Each cushion is 420mm square and can be supplied in any fabric you require. Additional cushions are available. Abbreviations for some occasional and dining chair models are: SCO Seat Cushion Only WBC With Back Cushion Prices include Scatter Cushions where illustrated and sprung base covers where applicable. 27 refresh revamp renew... ercol has been producing quality solid wood furniture in Buckinghamshire since it was started in1920 by Lucian Ercolani, the company is still very much a family run concern. Our furniture is created using traditional crafts combined with modern manufacturing technology which ercol has uniquely developed over decades. In 2002 we invested heavily in our commitment to manufacturing in Britain and designed and built ourselves an environmental award winning new factory in the heart of the Chilterns. Design is a central part of ercol; we have a hugely experienced in-house design team but we also commission designs from established designers, as well as up and coming young British design talent. When you have selected your ercol furniture it is made for you uniquely, providing you with up to six colour finishes on the wood and a choice of up to 100 fabrics from our collections, or your own choice of fabric if you prefer. Our solid timber is sourced from forests in North America and Europe. The beauty of solid timber is in its colour, its grain and in its variety. Every piece you own will always be different from the previous piece and gives unique character to all of the furniture made by ercol. To keep your furniture looking its best, dust regularly using a soft cloth and a maximum of twice a year polish the wood using only natural bees wax. ercol wax as used by our craftsmen, can be bought from your local ercol retailer, or directly from us. All our fabrics are sourced from high quality fabric mills who are designing and making fabrics to meet the highest test standards for furniture fabrics. Our fabrics are tested and meet industry standards required for General Domestic furniture. Our extensive choice of fabrics and leathers are on display in your local ercol stockist and at our showroom and factory in Princes Risborough. Samples may be requested free of charge by calling our Customer Services line on You can also view our fabric range on our web site and use our fabric selection programme to view your choice of our current upholstery covered in any of our fabrics. If you wish to select an alternative fabric not in the ercol range ( COC Customers Own Cover) please phone our Customer Service team on who will be delighted to help you. Certain ercol designs are available in a more limited choice of fabrics. As standard, seat interiors on all upholstery models are supplied with high quality foam interiors engineered to give the maximum level of comfort and support. A choice of cushion finish, piped, plain seamed, or top stitched, are available on some ranges; please see details on the relevant pages.
