Znanje iz področja 2D/3D modeliranja v enem izmed CAD programskih paketov. Prerequisits: Basic knowledge about polymer processing technologies and moulds. Knowledge in 2D/3D modeling in one of the CAD computer programs.

2 Vsebina: Pri predmetu bodo obravnavane naslednje vsebine: Namen numeričnih metod. Pregled numeričnih metod in programov za njihovo izvajanje. Integracija numeričnih metod v razvoj novih izdelkov, orodij in procesov izdelave. Matematične osnove: o osnovne enačbe in način računanja, o generiranje mreže, o generiranje robnih pogojev, o zanesljivost numeričnih izračunov. Popis materialnih podatkov in način testiranja: o splošni podatki o materialu, o reologija (viskoznost strižna hitrost), o toplotne lastnosti (specifična toplota, toplotna prevodnost), o pvt, o mehanske lastnosti (E-modu, strižni modul, razteznostni koeficient, krivulje σ-ε, lezenje ), o popis vlaken. Tipi mrež MKE: o površinska, volumska, o predpostavke»solverja«, o zahteve pri mreženju, o vnos geometrije, zahteve. Vrste analiz: o zaporedje simulacij, o spoznavanje enostavnejšega simulacijskega programa (npr. Moldflow MPA), o spoznavanje zahtevnejšega simulacijskega programa (npr. Moldflow MPI). Inženirska uporaba rezultatov numeričnih simulacij: o uporaba simulacij za določitev optimalnih pogojev brizganja, o balansiranje dolivnega sistema s pomočjo simulacij, Content (Syllabus outline): The following topics will be covered: The purpose of numerical simulations Review of numerical methods and software Integration of numerical methods in the development of new products, moulds and production processes Basic mathematics: o Basic equations and calculation modes o Mesh generation o Boundary conditions generation o Reliability of numerical calculations Material data characterisation and testing methods: o General material data o Rheology (viscosity shear rate) o Heat properties (specific heat, heat transfer) o pvt o Mechanical properties (E-module, shear module, expansion coefficient, σ-ε curve ) o Fibres characterisation Mesh types o Surface, volume o Predisposition of ''solver'' o Requirements regarding meshing o Geometry requirements (prej napisano equirements) Types of analyses: o Simulation sequence o Getting acquainted with a simpler simulation software (e.g. Moldflow MPA) o Getting acquainted with a more complex programme (e.g. Moldflow MPI) Engineering use of numerical simulation results o Use of simulations for defining the optimal injection parameters o Balancing the injection system with the use of numerical simulations o Optimisation of cooling system with the

Postopek oblikovanja izdelka in orodja s pomočjo simulacij: o določitev ciljev analiz, o koraki simulacij, o uporaba simulacij za vrednotenje začetnega dizajna, o uporaba simulacij za optimizacijo dizajna. use of numerical simulations o Compensation of shrinkage and deformations with the use of simulations o Designing new product with the use of numerical methods o Designing of assemblies Designing products and moulds with the use of simulations o Defining the aims of analyses o Simulation steps o Use of simulations for evaluation of initial design o Use of simulations for design optimisation V okviru predavanj bodo študentje pridobili teoretične osnove. Teoretične osnove bodo obravnavane samo do mere, ki je potrebna za sprejemanje pravilnih odločitev pri pripravi numeričnega modela. Laboratorijsko delo je predvideno kot praktično delo na računalniku z usmerjeno nalogo za vse študente enako. Poudarek bo na praktični uporabi sodobnega računalniškega programa, ki ga bodo morali študenti znati vodeno uporabljati. Največji poudarek pa bo dan seminarski nalogi, ki jo bodo morali študenti izdelati pod okriljem šole vendar na realnih industrijskih primerih. Študenti bodo morali s pomočjo numeričnih simulacij izvesti optimizacijo izbranega industrijskega primera. The students will get acquainted with theoretical basics. Theoretical basics will be dealt to such extent to enable making the right decisions when preparing a numerical model. The laboratory work is planned as the practical computer work with a common focused assignment. The emphasis will be on the practical use of the modern software, so that the students will be able to use it under guidance. The most important part will be a seminar, the assignment performed by the students on real industrial cases. The students will have to perform the optimisation of the chosen industrial case with the use of numerical simulations. Temeljni literatura in viri / Readings: J. Shoemaker: Moldflow Design Guide. P. 4 Cilji in kompetence: Cilj predmeta je, da se študenti seznanijo z možnostmi in načini uporabe numeričnih metod pri snovanju izdelkov iz polimerov in tehnoloških postopkov za njihovo predelavo do takšne mere, da bodo sposobni samostojno izvajati numerične analize (strukturne in reološke) z izbranim programom ter pravilno tolmačiti in uporabiti rezultate izračunov. Objectives and competences: The goal of this subject is to present the possibilities and ways of actual use of different numerical methods when designing polymer products and technological procedures for their production, so that the students will be able to independently perform numerical analyses (structural and rhelogical) with the selected programme and also correctly interpret and use the results of calculations. Predvideni študijski rezultati: Študent je z uporabo pridobljenega znanja sposoben samostojno izvajati enostavnejše vrste numeričnih izračunov, pravilno tolmačiti rezultate izračunov in jih implementirati v prakso. Pridobljeno znanje bo študentu zagotavljalo tehnični občutek o zanesljivosti numeričnih rezultatov, optimalni uporabi, časih za izvedbo in ostalih značilnostih, ki mu bodo v industrijskem okolju služili pri sodelovanju na projektih, ki bodo vključevali uporabo numeričnih simulacij. Predvideni študijski rezultati so torej: Poznavanje metodološkega pristopa pri uporabi numeričnih metod pri razvoju izdelkov, tehnologij in pri optimiranju proizvodnje. Poznavanje pravil in načinov za izdelavo kakovostnih numeričnih modelov. Znanje uporabe programa za izvajanje numeričnih analiz. Intended learning outcomes: The student will be able to perform basic types of numerical calculations independently, correctly interpret calculation results and implement them into practice. The acquired knowledge will enable technical sense about the reliability of numerical results, optimum use, computational times and other characteristics, which will be later used in the industrial environment when participating in projects, consisting of the use of numerical simulations. 5 Načini ocenjevanja: Pogoji za pristop k izpitu: 80% prisotnost na predavanjih/vajah Predstavitev seminarja Poročilo o opravljenih laboratorijskih vajah Skupno oceno predmeta sestavljajo: Pisni izpit Ocena vaj Ocena seminarske naloge Ocena teorije se pridobi z izvedbo pisnega izpita pri nosilcu predmeta, po potrebi se izvede tudi ustni zagovor. Ocena iz vaj se pridobi na osnovi ocene asistenta pri izvedbi vaj. Seminarska naloga se oceni na osnovi uspešno izvedene praktične naloge. Seminarsko nalogo skupaj ocenita nosilec predmeta in asistent. Delež (v %) / Weight (in %) 50% 20% 30% Assessment: Condition for accession to the exam: 80% of attendance at lectures/ tutorials Presentation of a seminar Delivered report on the laboratory work Final grade consists of: Written examination Assessment of laboratory work Assessment of seminar work The assessment of the theoretical knowledge is obtained through the written examination given by the lecturer. If needed, the oral examination is also preformed. Assessment of the laboratory work is given by the assistant based on the assessment of the laboratory work reports. Seminar work is assessed on the basis of successful practical work. Seminar work is assessed by the lecturer and the assistant. Reference nosilca / Lecturer's references: Gašper Gantar ima bogate industrijske izkušnje s področja izvajanja numeričnih simulacij. Vodil in izvajal je več kot 300 industrijskih projektov. Pridobil in izvajal je tudi številne večletne mednarodne raziskovalne projekte, pri katerih je bil vodilni slovenski partner (med njimi je potrebno izpostaviti projekte 7.OP, programa Research Funds for Coal and Steel, Margintech, Leonardo da Vinci, CORNET, EraSME, MNT ERA, EUREKA itd.). Na znanstveno-raziskovalnem področju se dr. Gašper Gantar ukvarja z optimiranjem postopkov preoblikovanja, računalniško podprtim inženirstvom - predvsem z numeričnimi simulacijami obdelovalnih postopkov in inženirsko ekonomiko ter okoljevarstveno problematiko. Je avtor več kot 100 del, od tega prvi avtor sedmih izvirnih znanstvenih člankov. Njegovi znanstveni članki so citirani več kot 40-krat. Bil je somentor pri izdelavi ene diplomske naloge in več raziskovalnih nalog. Gašper Gantar has broad industrial experiences with numerical simulations. He has leaded and

6 performed over 300 industrial projects. He has acquired and lead several international research projects, where he was also a leading Slovenian partner (the following projects should be emphasised: FP7, Research Funds for Coal and Steel, Margintech, Leonardo da Vinci, CORNET, EraSME, MNT ERA, EUREKA, etc.). His research work has been focused on the optimisation of forming processes, computer aided engineering; mostly numerical simulations of manufacturing processes, cost engineering and environment protection. He is the author of more than 100 works and the main author of seven original scientific papers. His scientific papers have been cited more than forty times.
