Rohm and Haas Plastics Additives Rohm and Haas is a worldwide supplier of plastic additives used in a large variety of applications for vinyl, polyester, polycarbonate, and other engineering plastics or blends. Automotives parts, business machines, construction materials, packaging, home appliances, and consumer electronics owe their properties to these invisible workhorses, which add impact strength, clarity, chemical resistance, heat resistance, heat stability, weather resistance, color retention, greater output rates, melt strength and lubrification to base polymers. For more than 50 years, Rohm and Haas has been a pioneer in the development of plastic additives, introducing in 1956 the first MBS impact modifier, followed two

It is applicable for outdoor rigid PVC products such as window frames, panels, siding, fences, pipes, fitting and injection-molded parts. PARALOID KM series Acrylic Impact Modifiers are core-shell impact modifiers with a cross-linked poly-ba core and grafted poly-mma shell. Therefore, this product disperses as discrete particles in the matrix resin with best dispersing characteristic and product performance. PARALOID KM series Acrylic Impact Modifiers offer the following benefits compared to chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) or other acrylic impact modifiers: Best impact efficiency and impact retention. Excellent weatherability. Good resistance against sulphur staining. Improve surface gloss of profiles. Low post-extrusion shrinkage with best dimensional stability. High weld corner strength. 3 Impact Efficiency The designed core-shell structure of PARALOID KM series acrylic impact modifiers provides best impact property over CPE. PARALOID KM-355P imparts excellent impact improvement both at room temperature and -10 C. Impact Strength Retention Retaining impact resistance is very important in building applications. The figure at right clearly demonstrates the superior performance of PARALOID KM355P impact modifier over competitive products. Most weatherable acrylic impact modifier (AIM) and methyl-methacrylate-butadienestyrene (MBS) impact modifiers could not be used in clear and weatherable application. It is due to different refractive indexes of AIM against the vinyl polymer as well as poor weathering of Butadiene of MBS.

5 In contrast, PARALOID HIA-80 Impact Modifier imparts the best of both properties with high clarity and excellent impact performance. Impact Efficiency and Optical Properties PARALOID HIA-80 Impact Modifier provides the best balance of impact strength and optical properties in clear vinyl polymer. Weatherability PARALOID HIA-80 Impact Modifier is able to maintain the impact strength of vinyl sheet longer than competitive modifier. PARALOID HIA-80 modified sheet still has a high level of ductility even after 700 hours of exposure. After Xenon-arc weathering, PARALOID HIA-80 exhibits much less yellowing than MBS modifiers.

6 PARALOID K-SERIES Processing Aids Product Description PARALOID K-series are methyl methacrylate type processing aids for PVC used mainly in building applications, such as window frames, panels, siding, fences, sign boards, roofing sheets, pipes, fittings, injection-molded parts and foamed products. PARALOID K-series processing aids offer the following benefits over competitive products for PVC: Enhance faster fusion at lower processing temperature. Improve cohesion of melt and its homogeneity. Improve melt strength, extensibility and elasticity. Prevent melt fracture, improve smoother product surface and quality. Well disperse in PVC matrix. Enhance products with higher surface gloss. Adequate precautions should be taken to keep all dust levels below values that are hazardous to health and safety. In the case of eye or skin contact, eyes should be flushed with water to remove dust particles and affected skin areas washed with soap and water. 10 Standard Packaging Drum, net weight kg (500 lb) Handling and Storage ADVASTAB TM-291, TH-811 and TM-950F are liquid tin mercaptide heat stabilizer and should be handled with normal precautions used in good industrial practices for organic liquids. Use adequate ventilation. Wear rubber gloves. Wear eye protection. In case of contact with skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water. In case of contact with eyes, flush with water and get medical attention. Refer to Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for safety and health information. Store in cool and dry area. Indoor storage is recommended. Stainless steel is recommended for piping, valves and pumps used to handle these materials. ACRYLIGARD CS-281 Capstock Acrylic Polymer Product Description To fulfill the demand for high quality colored PVC co-extrusion market, ROHM AND HAAS has developed all-acrylic polymer, ACRYLIGARD, for co-extrusion as capstock over PVC substrate. PVC has proven to be unsatisfactory as a capstock particularly when the material is pigmented with darker colors. In contrast, ACRYLIGARD has an excellent weatherability as well as color hold which can be applied as a capping layer for door/window frame, panels, sidings and roof tiles. ACRYLIGARD CS-281 offers the following benefits: Applicable in all kind of color with excellent weathering and color hold. Excellent impact strength. Excellent melt strength and shrinkage level when co-extruded with PVC. High gloss imparted classic and stylish to the finished profile. Excellent Weatherability The 100% acrylic polymer is generally very stable toward UV light and this provides a perfect weathering material for outdoor application. A full four years natural weathering testing was conducted in US Arizona and Florida and the results demonstrated that Acryligard outperformed all other capstock resins. In addition Acryligard has been widely accepted by the Chinese market in such applications as co-extruded profiles, panels and siding.

11 Excellent Physical Properties Apart from good weathering resistance, Acryligard also has a good balance between mechanical and surface properties. With Acryligard on the finished product, customers enjoy high gloss, surface evenness as well as high impact strength compared to the poor impact of PMMA and low gloss and surface scratch resistance of ASA. A relative close melt flow property between PVC and capping material is important for a smooth extrusion to take place. Acryligard processing temperature is between 180 C and 220 C which is very similar to the processing temperature of PVC. As a result it is very easy to adapt Acryligard to PVC co-extrusion.
